Re: Fiserv
As for 6855 building... landscaping/concrete work/parking lot improvements have all just been completed... interior renovations continue, including cafeteria. We're not going anywhere.

Re: Fiserv
I wasn't sure whether to post this under Fiserv or look for a Covid thread. Sorry if this is the wrong place. Apparently Fiserv has just re-closed all Omaha buildings due to Covid. (Not a huge deal this time of year as many employees are taking time off.)

My contact person doesn't know. He only found out about the closure the day I posted, or maybe the day before, so perhaps they decide based on changing statistics?

Just before Christmas, we were told we could stay home through New Year's.. as if a reward for a good year. Before end of year we were then told to stay home through the 18th. I'm expecting this to be extended based on the situation.

This rumor seems to be dead. When they left the Civic Center site due to cost (from the CEO's mouth) they decided to stay put at their current location.

We know that Fiserv was in talks for the Library site before Lanoha and MoO swooped in. And I have heard that there is a chance that, due to the land swap, Fiserv might have future interest in the old UP site.mcarch wrote: Wed May 11, 2022 10:14 am This rumor seems to be dead. The surcharge is in place for the new addition at the Pace building. Looks a lot larger in person that it did on the plans. They are staging quite a bit of the steel in the parking lot too. I'm guessing it will go up fast once the surcharge is removed.

I will have to inquire as I have contact both at Fiserv and in Real Estate. Right now I know that Fiserv does not have the money and has been downsizing. The CEO has been focusing on and moving people from Atlanta/New York to New Jersey (without pay increases or moving expenses), all due to New Jersey having better workers (not my words).Doctor Fate wrote: Fri May 20, 2022 9:32 amElsewhere. All this, plus they just put tons of money into their current building to shove 2 buildings into 1, so tiny cubicles, roughly 4 feet wide, all while the CEO does not believe in working from home.

Of course, my previous statement is good, old fashioned tongue and cheek sarcasm, lol. He’s your typical, self absorbed money grubbing big boss; with a contract that gives all CEO’s of his ilk a bad name.. Think “poster child”…

Omaha Cowboy: Oh yeah, he's a piece of work. I've heard him talk in conference calls. Talk about an HR nightmare. He thinks women should be housewives. But for some odd reason, some women eat his every word up. *shrugs* I don't understand it.
Doctor Fate: I shared with my contact the info provided here on the site and they've said that they highly doubt any move. They are too focused on New Jersey (like head over heels focused). Meaning, they would lay off all of their employees to hire people in New Jersey if they could. The CEO thinks the workers in NJ are the best in the world and would come work for FISERV's measly pay from the high paying pharmaceutical industry already located there.
Just an FYI. First Data/FISERV already had an office in Manhattan in which the CEO closed. Many of the workers in that office lived on Long Island. They are NOT allowed to work from home, so they were told that they either moved or they were given severance pay. If they chose to move, it was at their own dime. Those that lived on Long Island would have taken another 2-3 hours in commute time due to a switch in subway/trains already to their 2-3 hour commute (I know a contact over there that had to go through this).
So already having a built-in employee base and presence VS. not having any employees nor a presence in the market. What would anyone's best choice in running a business be? This is the type of CEO that is running First Data now FISERV.

Well, I can also shed some light on how there have been Townhall meetings held at First Data/FISERV in which a certain Nebraskan Senator who keeps getting reelected has stated over and over that Nebraska doesn't need nor is a technology hub, but should be and should focus on agriculture only.
If I were sitting in any of these meetings, I would have been fired a long time ago. I would have never been able to hold my tongue.

We have two. Fischer has been reelected once and Sasse who was reelected once. Hardly "keeps getting reelected".
The issue of tech hub status depends on perspective. A steady opinion from the eco-left is that these data centers are not great as they suck up a lot of resources and space for only a few long term jobs. So tech gets trashed from the left as well.

No Datacenters are not how you measure a city as a tech hub. But when you are talking to a tech company, who deal with credit card payments, creates actual credit card processing machines, has a data center in Omaha, plus the many other tech industries Omaha has, like the central data lines coming in and out of downtown (there was an article in OWH) about an entire building housing central data lines for the US. Not at all tech. Call centers were once an Omaha thing due to location for both manpower and actual power reliability. Then you have Banking, Insurance, UP, etc. If we just limit the big players in Omaha, UP and FNB, both have huge Data Centers here in Omaha (not at all tech). This state isn't just based on farming (and most important and only needed) as was stated.

Bearing in mind, virtually every new product we're creating is now going on AWS or Azure.. Fiserv is consolidating/downsizing on prem. Everyone of consequence is doing the same.

Re: Fiserv
Thought this was some good news for Fiserv operations in Nebraska:
https://mbj.com/fiserv-leading-innovati ... sing-tech/
https://mbj.com/fiserv-leading-innovati ... sing-tech/
Fiserv is incentivized under the ImagiNE Act, but still good news in a climate where many business are retracting their workforce.Founded in 1984 and headquartered in Brookfield, Wisconsin, Fiserv has offices in over 20 locations globally and customers in a significantly higher number of countries. It has more than 40,000 employees around the world, 5,000 of which are in the Omaha and Lincoln offices.
...
Additionally, Fiserv offers a military and veteran hiring program that assists the military community and their families. Recently it hired 100 individuals in Nebraska and is putting them through a training program to help ensure a smooth transition to their first job outside of the military.
“We have an initiative to grow in Nebraska,” Sebby said. “We are very focused on hiring people here and getting them into our development programs.”

Re: Fiserv
I can vouch for a mass of humanity having come into 6855 Pacific (actually have agreement with UNO to use Kiewit parking).. have many setup in conference rooms, I'd guess many more than 100 overall.
Of course the assumption is, having hit the state hiring commitment for tax purposes, that we'll see cuts just as quick.
Even so, somewhat encouraging given all the focus that had been placed on growing Berkeley Heights, NJ.. but Omaha remains the largest footprint in Fiserv after all these years, including some massive India offices (some may not be aware, Fiserv also has several hundred in Lincoln as well).

I mean, he posted that when Sasse was the senator.
The Senator is Sasse.
Pete Ricketts is the current senator in that seat.
Sasse is the President of the University of Florida now I believe

Check out a brief comment at about the 34:37-35:00 mark from the Mayor's streetcar presentation a couple weeks ago:

I do not have any information about it, but it's a surprising name drop. Why would a company that has no current operations in the urban core care about the streetcar? I am asking it somewhat rhetorically, but also partially to see if anyone here knows anything.

Im not connected to the company, but it’s always seemed that they had a lot of offices spread throughout the city. Maybe they are consolidating?ita wrote: Fri Jul 12, 2024 11:14 am Check out a brief comment at about the 34:37-35:00 mark from the Mayor's streetcar presentation a couple weeks ago:

Re: Fiserv
Wasn’t the original downtown tower rumor Fiserv building on the UP lot? Maybe since the city now owns the UP lot they are still trying to work something out for Fisev to build there.
