Royals Beat Blue Jays in Finale
Lugo Locks Down Series Win

Seth Lugo took the mound in the series finale and deciding game against the Blue Jays and twirled a gem, striking out 8 over 7.0 innings of 1-run ball. The Royals offense broke through in the 6th inning when Bobby Witt Jr., Salvador Perez, and Michael Massey drove in a run each in a three-run rally. Massey broke the game open in the 8th with a 3-run blast, his second in as many games, which was more than enough breathing room for Chris Stratton and Nick Anderson to secure the win in the series finale and give the Royals a series win and wrap up a .500 road trip.

The Royals returned to Kauffman Stadium to open a homestand with a series against the Rangers. Brady Singer turned in a quality start, surrendering just 1 run over 6.0 innings of work with 8 strikeouts. Hunter Renfroe tied the game with his third home run of the season and the game remained tied until the 7th inning. RBI singles from Kyle Isbel, Bobby Witt Jr., and Vinnie Pasquantino gave the Royals the lead and Salvador Perez broke the game open with a no-doubt three-run homer sending The K into bedlam. John Schreiber, Angel Zerpa, and Colin Selby each tossed scoreless innings to secure win.

Royals Take Finale vs. Brewers

After splitting the first two games of the series, the Royals sent Brady Singer to the mound in the finale. Singer surrendered 1 run over 5.1 innings while striking out 4. The offense manufactured the runs early, pushing the first three across with sacrifice flies from Vinnie Pasquantino and two from Michael Massey. Bobby Witt Jr. smashed his 5th homer of the season, and Adam Frazier and Freddy Fermin each drove in runs in a 3-run 8th inning. The bullpen never gave up the lead, with the help of an MJ Melendez outfield assist to nab a runner at the plate, and James McArthur came in late to lock down the save and give the Royals a series win.

Trailing by a run in the top of the 7th inning, Nelson Velázquez came up clutch launching a three-run blast to put the Royals ahead. Royals Extend Win Streak to 7

The Royals hit the road after completing a perfect homestand and were looking to extend their win streak to seven games. Seth Lugo took the mound and pitched 7.0 innings, allowing one run on four hits. In the fourth inning, Vinne Pasquantino, Michael Massey, and Freddy Fermin loaded the bases with a single each. Nelson Velázquez drew a walk to score Pasquantino and put the Royals on the board. Hunter Renfroe followed by hitting into a force which scored Massey and put the Royals ahead 2-1. Maikel Garcia led off the fifth inning with a single followed by a stolen base. Salvador Perez got hit by a pitch to put two men on for Michael Massey. Massey came through with a big 3-run home run, extending the Royals lead to 5-1. Renfroe doubled in the sixth inning, and Garrett Hampson knocked him home with a single of his own. Bobby Witt Jr. started the seventh off with a solo shot, and the scoring kept going thanks to Pasquantino taking a hit by a pitch, followed by Fermin doubling to bring him home. The Royals held the Rays to one run and took the series-opener with a dominant 8-1 final score.

Former Creighton baseball star back in Omaha with Storm Chasers

PAPILLION, Neb. — "It's kind of crazy how it comes full circle and I'm back here and right on the doorstep of making my dreams come true." After playing baseball at Creighton from 2013 to 2016, Ryan Fitzgerald returned to Omaha when the Kansas City Royals selected him in the Rule 5 Draft this December. "Creighton is known for their defense. That was something I learned there and was able to carry with me on into pro ball," said Fitzgerald.

"After teaching myself how to hit and adding that piece to my game, combining those two, that gave me the opportunity to still be doing this eight years later." Storm Chasers manager Mike Jirschele added, "You can tell he's a gamer. He's one of those guys that is not afraid to get out there and get dirty. He hustles all the time." Resilient Royals Refuse to Quit

The Royals returned home after a split in Cleveland and immediately faced adversity, falling behind 8-0, but refused to go away. Nelson Velázquez got the Royals on the board with an RBI ground-out before MJ Melendez made things interesting launching a three-run blast to pull the Royals within four. The Mariners would tack on a run in the 6th before the Royals pushed back with three thanks to another RBI from Melendez and a two-run single from Hunter Renfroe, making it 9-7. The score would stay the same until the bottom of the 9th inning when Maikel Garcia brought home a run on a ground-out setting the stage for Bobby Witt Jr. to come through with an electrifying RBI triple to tie the game. After intentional walks to load the bases, Nelson Velázquez stepped in again and hit a one-hop rocket that was too hot for the Mariners to turn a double play, giving the Royals a dramatic, come-from-behind, walk-off win.

Last nights game was amazing. Royals down 7 (most if not all scored with 2 outs) before they even batted in the first. Got to 8-0 in 4th. Royals claw back. Still down 9-7 in the 9th. And win!

No. It was their big annual 4th of July fireworks game (now sponsored by 1st National, in the old days it was presented by the World Herald).

And yes, it was July 3 since they started a road trip on thr 4th.

Royals got an absolute steal at the 6th pick in the draft tonight with Jac Gaglianone falling to them. He played for Florida and has made the CWS the past two years. One of the most dynamic hitters in CBB history and can pitch too.

I am going to have to make a point of seeing him when he gets on the Storm Chasers roster b/c he won't be playing in the minors for long.

That was such a great one too. Bobby's final shot to tie it up in the finals. hit the wall just a few feet from going over. Many have noted that was his national arrival. Not just incredible talent but so much charisma.

It's crazy that you now have Mahomes and Witt Jr in KC at the same time. So cool.

Bobby is on fire right now. Not sure I remember a player on this much of a hot streak. He was a single away from a cycle last night. His next time up, he was plucked. Not sure I have heard/seen the Royals fans or especially Salvador Perez so mad. He did get one more crack at it but didn't get on.

Went to the game Saturday. Most exciting Kaufman atmosphere in years. Fun team and Bobby is incredible, he just took over the top WAR in baseball.

A very fun series to be at. Tuesday they had the bases loaded in the 9th with the tying run on third. Then in their wins on Wednesday and Thursday, both games they trailed and came from behind.

Crowds were definitely into it.

I agree. I attended games 1 & 3. Really compelling baseball the entire series between two evenly matched and motivated teams.
