Jurevicius and Kubik enter the transfer portal. Nebraska needed to have at least 2 transfer out as we had no seniors and 2 incoming scholarship recruits. If NU does want to add someone through the portal, another active player would need to leave:

With no seniors on the team, if there is no one leaving via the portal, they have no scholarship room for the new talent that is coming this way. It should not be a shock that there will be some leaving

Only a mild surprise here. She obviously played and started a lot down the stretch, but that was only after Lindsay Krause was injured in the car accident. Her playing time was not what it had been the previous season. I believe she was the #1 recruit coming in as a freshman. She will be very sought after in the portal.

I read somewhere, but it was not on anything "official" that the Huskers looked at playing the match in Las Vegas, and it got shot down. Did anyone see anything on that, or was it just someone spouting off?

Husker volleyball sweeps Denver Saturday at spring game

Nebraska volleyball took to the court on Saturday to show off new players and remind everyone what returning players are made of. They faced Denver at the Health and Sports Center in Kearney. The Huskers got things started, getting on the board first, and moments later, Merritt Beason came out with a slam, bringing Nebraska to 4-0 lead. Beason then again threw it down, this time from the back, extending Nebraska's lead to 10-4. With her brother and Nebraska basketball star Josiah Allick in attendance, Bekka Allick slammed it down, bringing Nebraska to a 13-6 lead.

After returning from a season-ending injury, Lindsay Krause got the kill to give Nebraska the set 1 win, 25-13. And then it was two, Nebraska took the second set 25-12. And it was a sweep. Nebraska defeated Denver with a 25-15 third set.

Nebraska Volleyball to Face Kentucky
in AVCA First Serve Showcase at KFC Yum! Center

Nebraska volleyball will be jumping right into a tough test to begin the 2024 season. NU is set to face Kentucky in the AVCA First Serve Showcase on Aug. 27 in Louisville, Kentucky. That match will be the first of a doubleheader that concludes with Wisconsin and Louisville.

The KFC Yum! Center will be the site of the national semifinals and title match this year. The Huskers and Wildcats are set for a first serve at 6 p.m. CDT. NU holds a 11-2 lead in the all-time series, including a 3-1 win in Lincoln last season. At least one of the four participating programs has made the NCAA Championship going back to 2017, including Nebraska with a title that season before runner-ups in 2018, 2021, and 2023. Wisconsin won the championship in 2021 after falling the 2019 final. Louisville was runner-up in 2022.

Huskers and Jays tonight. Is this the first time both teams have ranked in the top 10 when they faced each other?

What a great battle last night. I don't know that I've ever see a set go 31-33. While the Huskers won the match, this was a win-win in terms of optics for the state and both programs.

I had either not realized or forgotten that Creighton has never beaten Nebraska in volleyball.

SMU took down Baylor in straight sets, so SMU now has 2 big ranked wins, both sweeps. That loss really doesn't look bad now.

That helps, but it still hurts. It was better that it was on the front end of the season, though
