Re: 2024 World Series
The Dodgers won Game 1 6-3 on an incredible walkoff grand slam. Incredible. I call it the baseball equivalent of a Hail Mary.

A hail mary? That's a bad analogy, a walk off grand slam is nothing like a hail mary. A hail mary is when you a loosing and out of time, you are desperate and only have one shot to score or you loose. The Dodgers got 2 runners on and only needed a base hit to win it. The grand slam was a bonus.

I agree with this. A walk-off Grand Slam is something that takes pieces to build and get. A Hail Mary is a one-time go for broke shotToto wrote: Sat Oct 26, 2024 9:01 pm A hail mary? Re: 2024 World Series
After seeing a complete Hail Mary and a Walk-Off Grand Slam in the weekend, they are quite different, but both were cool to see. I agree with toto, Dodgers only need a single to win. Meanwhile the whole world knew the Washington was going for the Hail Mary today and they still completed it. Its really been a great weekend of sport. Game 2 of the World Series was also bases loaded, but this time it was the Yankees in the top of the 9th, but they didn't convert. Game 3 on Monday.
Side note, Hard to believe Chavez Ravine is the 3rd oldest stadium. Aerial shots look cool on TV, wonder how it is in person?

Well, the Dodgers won Games 2 and 3. The Yankees won Game 4. So they avoided a sweep. Game 5 tonight.

It's on my bucket list. Would love to go there, watch a game and eat a Dodger Dog, then head south and see a game in San Diego. Of all the new stadiums, the two I most want to go to that I haven't been are San Diego and Pittsburgh.Brad wrote: Sun Oct 27, 2024 9:04 pm After seeing a complete Hail Mary and a Walk-Off Grand Slam in the weekend, they are quite different, but both were cool to see. Re: 2024 World Series
PetCo Park is really nice. I highly recommend taking the streetcar there to make it easy unless you're already staying in the area. They've also got a nice Padres history display/museum. You can also book a tour of the stadium, which I have not yet done. Pro-tip: book along the 3rd base side to avoid sunburn on day games, hehehe.
If you go next year let me know - I've been to San Diego & Petco a bunch and can make some recommendations if you'd like. IIIRC, The Omni has a skywalk to the stadium.
