I can't wait for Sunday, March 9, 2025 we we get to put our clocks back to the correct time.
This is correct. Standard time is the absolute worst.

I put a countdown on the home screen of my phone every year when DST ends. 126 days left... :(

No, I'm not wrong. Everybody keeps disregarding that Daylight Saving Time is the lala land. It's made up. This is real time.

I already felt the difference today. I woke up at the crack of dawn, which was about 6:45 today, and would have been 7:45 yesterday. All the sudden, I'm not automatically an hour behind in waking up, getting my day going, etc. It's this time of year I realize I'm not wrong when most of the year I'm what you call a "late riser". I'm not, the clocks are fabricated most of the year.

I'd like it better if it was an even split, six months on, six months off. Or break it in half by a half hour and never change it, or make it standard all year and never change it. It's proven that standard time is the healthy time for mind and body. I mean honestly, nobody else appreciates the sleep? They call it an "extra hour" of sleep, but really it's not "extra", were just given back what was supposed to be in the first place.

Today was a whole 2 minutes shorter than yesterday. I can see tomorrow it may make a difference. What really should happen in an equally fantasy land is it stays standard time all year, and all employers and businesses allowed you to decide if or if not you choose to go in an hour early. Would you do it?

I wouldn't do it. But as it stands, I HAVE to do it 8 months out of the year. I think there's a reason the sunshine protection act failed. There's a lot more people out there that prefer standard time than they thought. They're not here on this forum apparently.

Very funny. Cry all winter then. Standard time isn't going anywhere any time soon, thankfully.

As someone who has an internal clock, the extra AM hour is a bit of a waste.

I don't think I'd want Standard Time in the summer. The earliest the sun comes up right now in June is 5:50. Having the sun up before 5 seems criminal and I much prefer later evenings of sunlight.

As someone who typically does not play nice if i have to wake up before the sun rises, getting this hour back does wonders for me. If I have to work at 8, and I wake up at sunrise, last week that was about 7:30. Barely enough time to SSS and in a mad dash out the door. I'm not walking into to work a happy camper. As of today, I woke up at 6:45. That gave me plenty of time to enjoy a cup of coffee, fix breakfast, clean up, etc. And I'm not irritable because I didnt wake up to an alarm in darkness 20 minutes before work. I'm well rested and I woke up when my body felt like it. And here I am looking out the window with the forecast looking like what a typical nasty fall day looks like, you know, even though it'll be practically dark on the drive home, I won't be missing out on anything. No gardening, no yard work, no walk after work. It would be physically impossible or otherwise unpleasant at best. And that's fine by me. At least my biological clock is on the correct time finally, albeit for a relatively short amount of time. I finally can say I feel good, I feel correct, and it's all because we got that hour back.

I don't necessarily think that would be great either, but I think it would be fair just to try it, if only once.

What I really want is a more fair balance of how long each of these times last. What I want is standard time from the first freeze to the last freeze, which would be, say the second Sunday of October to the second Sunday of April. An exact 6 month/6 month split. Seems fair to me. If you look at it historically, that's pretty much exactly what it used to be (save for that failed attempt at permanent DST in the 70's) up until what was it, 2004 or something like that when the current system was established.

I don't care what time the sun comes up in the morning. 5am, 9am, it doesn't matter. Everything I do in the morning can be done in the dark. I want the sunlight after work when I can do yard work, play outside with the kids, etc.

This time of year is definitely worse on the eastern edges of the time zones as well. Chicago has sunset at 440 tonight, NYC has 448, Omaha has 515.

Agreed.
Face it, like the current setup or not, it probably ain’t gonna change. People only beech about the time change for about 3 days after it happens then we all adjust to life as it is.

I have a few automatic clocks that have DST settings, and they have only OFF or Auto. They have no ON setting.

I know I could select the different time zone with DST OFF, but it might not work everyone with these style of clocks, tho.
