I still consider the Storm Chasers season champions. They won the International League Championship. So, the tag of first half champions isn't really correct. They won the first half an then the full International League playoffs. The AAA Championship is a glorified exhibition game that most don't put much stock into. It's a single game, not a best 2/3 even. International League Champions is really the prize, IMO.
