Yeah that was a rough look for Creighton. Nick Bahe and Kevin Kugler were very complimentary of the defense that Nebraska put together for Creighton and speculated that it might be a blueprint for others. Will be interesting to see what Kansas does.

I also saw on Twitter some slow-mo shots of Ashworth's injury. One person showed that came from him seemingly kicking out his leg to draw contact/foul, and because his leg was so extended his foot came down on top of the defender's foot. Glad to hear it wasn't a season ender for him.

I hope that the Jays have a successful winning season. For a couple reasons but one is I want this to be a quality Husker win.

Connor Essegian scored a career-high 29 points and added a career-high five assists, as Nebraska bested South Dakota, 96-79, on Wednesday night at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Essegian, whose 29-point outing off the bench was the most by a Husker in at least two decades, hit a career-high six 3-pointsers, as Nebraska improved to 5-1 on the season. Essegian’s previous best was 24 set as a freshman at Wisconsin during the 2022-23 season.

While Essegian enjoyed a career night, it was the Huskers depth that carried Nebraska to its 16th straight home win. Brice Williams added 21 points and four assists, while Braxton Meah added 12 points on 6-of-6 shooting and five boards.

NU got a season-high 51 points from its bench, including a season-high nine markers from Sam Hoiberg and eight boards and seven rebounds from Andrew Morgan.

As a team, Nebraska shot nearly 50 percent from the floor, including a season-high 13 3-pointers, dished out 24 assists on 33 field goals. Rollie Worster led NU with six assists and added six points and eight boards.

Essegian led a three-point barrage in the opening 20 minutes, hitting five of the Huskers’ 10 3-pointers in the opening 20 minutes as Nebraska took a 54-35 halftime lead on Ahron Ulis’ buzzer beater. Leading 16-12, Essegian had a trio of 3-pointers in a span of less than two minutes, as Nebraska built a 29-16 cushion.

The Coyotes (6-3) pulled to within 31-25 before Williams took over, as the senior scored 10 straight points, including consecutive 3-poitners to push the lead back to 16, at 41-25. Williams had 15 of his 21 points in the opening stanza.

Nebraska extended the lead to 23 on two occasions, the last coming on a Hoiberg layup with 17:15 left and would lead by double-figures the rest of the night.

Chase Forte led the Coyotes with 20 points, all coming in the second half.

The Huskers are staying home to host the North Florida Ospreys on Sunday, Dec. 1. Tipoff is set for 3:00 p.m. (CT), tickets are available by visiting Huskers.com/Tickets.

They have beat South Carolina and Georgia Tech, lost to Georgia by 13 this year so not too bad.

Triple digits:
Connor Essegian’s 22 points led five players in double figures, as Nebraska went over the century mark in a 103-72 win over North Florida on Sunday afternoon.

Essegian went 8-of-10 from the field, including six 3-pointers, as Nebraska shot a season-high 58 percent from the field, including 11-of-24 from 3-point range.

Juwan Gary finished with 18 points and five rebounds, while Brice Williams (17), Andrew Morgan (13) and Ahron Ulis (10) all finished in double figures. Nebraska had 22 assists, including six by Williams, and just six turnovers while enjoying a 25-2 advantage on points off turnovers.

The Huskers took control early, using an 18-1 run behind Essegian, who had seven of his 13 first-half points in the spurt, as Nebraska built a 18-4 lead after an Morgan 3-point play capped a 15-0 Husker spurt.

The Ospreys were within 28-18 after a Jasai Miles 3-pointer, but Gary had five points in a 13-2 Husker run over the next four minutes to extend the lead to 21, at 41-20, and the Huskers kept that 21-point lead heading into the locker room. NU shot over 50 percent from both the field and 3-point line en route to taking a 53-32 halftime lead.

North Florida (5-3), which already upset Georgia Tech and South Carolina in the first month of the season, trimmed a 27-point deficit to 67-52 with 14:15 left after seven straight points from Seward, Neb., native Nate Lliteras, who finished with a game-high 17 points. That would be as close as they got, as the Huskers used a 7-0 run, capped by a Sam Hoiberg 3-pointer, to stretch the lead back to 22 with 11:26 left and the Huskers led by at least 19 the rest of the day.

UNF was held to a season-low 72 points despite going 14-of-43 from 3-point range, as the Ospreys ranked in the top two nationally in 3-pointers made and attempted this season.

The Huskers will open Big Ten Conference play against the Michigan State Spartans in East Lansing, Mich., on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m. (CT). The game will be broadcast on Big Ten Network and can be heard across the Huskers Radio Network.

Not Husker related but man am I bummed I am busy tonight. With Kansas in town tonight would love to see them. Cheapest tickets prior to the Nebraska game and Vegas trip were well over $100 and are now down around $41. I realize it's not quite the rankings match up that it was a few weeks ago, but you've got a true blue blood, that's #1 in the country coming to Omaha.

Yeah it really became unwatchable. Just a bad bad effort. Trying to remain optimistic. Last year at this time I was really down after we coughed up a lead to a bad Minnesota team on the road.

With the freezing rain forecast, I could see many from out of town not making it (along with some in town). And possibly an even bigger factor, NU volleyball playing at 8:30 at Devaney (not to mention the aTm vs Wisconsin before it).

Speaking of crowds. I watched the Iowa home loss to Iowa State last night. Was shocked how many Iowa State fans were there. At times they were so much louder than the Iowa fans.

I think Iowa's fans have officially turned on Fran McCaffrey (which tells you something because they didn't revolt for the longest time with Brian Ferentz as their offensive coordinator).

I would love to see Iowa's men's team play UCONN just for the possibility of a fight between coaches. Or give me a PPV just between them.

Before last night, they were only averaging around 7,200 tickets sold and the actual seats during the game is probably closer to 4,000. I think they have finally given up on Fran. Both he and Kirk do just enough mediocre winning to keep the fan base happy. At any other university in the country, those 2 would have been gone long ago. Sure Fran has made the NCAA 7 times, but never past the second round. I think they can see by now what they have with him. A coach that loves to schedule easy teams in the non-con schedule and racks up points but doesn't teach defense at all. Between not playing D and not having good guard play, they aren't going anywhere. Barta was a moron for extending the contracts of Kirk and Fran so long.

However, I just saw they got the QB transfer from Auburn. I don’t know much about him but he has to be better than what we normally have. If Kirk and his OC can turn him into something and they have another 10 win year, he might have bought himself some more time if he wants.
