That was all Pop Isaacs tonight. Nice to see him put together a really complete game. Even before the injury Kalk hasn’t seemed right

Fun quote from Bill Self: "Pop [Isaacs] was great. We know Pop going back to when he was freaking 5 years old.… He was terrific tonight."

Its still so early in the season, but I love how many marquee matchups have been played. Creighton showed a glimpse of what they can do, and we know coach Mac will get them to play consistent and peak at the right point. Also, it took forever to beat #1 for the first time, and they have done it again already. It just shows the level the program is at!

What a great win last night. Totally a team win. Everyone that played contributed. Obviously Pop, Kalk and Ashworth played great, but Traudt played great defense without fouling. Miller hit 2 3's, King only played 2 min but played great and even hit 2 FTs. And even at the end Green finally got in and played great D and grabbed 3 boards. Everyone stepped up when their number was called, which is why they won. It was really impressive to hold Dickinson to 4 shots (kinda like NE did to Kalk and Creighton)

That was a huge win for the Jays, obviously Kansas is going to be a great team and have some really big wins this year, but the Jays are already up to #42 in kenpom after being around 100 last week.

I agree..

Big time win to build on for their Tournament resume..

The Jays are still banged up physically and have to get healthy even from a virus standpoint (Ashworth upchucking at halftime).. But I believe if this team can be blessed with staying healthy, they have a real shot at making a run at winning the Bigh East, and a potential tournament seeding of #3 or #4.. We have a LONG way to go..

One game at a time- lets take care of UNLV Saturday…

Pretty good article explaining the future of multi-team early season tournaments. Personally, I have always hated the tournaments in Maui or Bahamas, the gyms are terrible and the floor often has condensation on it. Sure, its nice for the players to get to experience the area, but no doubt, from a money perspective those tournaments are almost done.

The Players Era Festival wants to change November nonconference scheduling
At least five teams ranked in the top 20 of this year's preseason AP poll are in various stages of discussions over home-and-home series beginning next season, sources said.

This would essentially replace the MTE-heavy calendar that has produced many of the most high-profile November games in recent years. Now, the Maui Invitational and Battle 4 Atlantis are among the only prestigious large tournaments remaining -- and neither is poised to have an elite field next year.

Wow, sad to see. Hopefully he has a successful surgery and heals well. As for the team, next man up. Gunna need another scorer badly. Hopefully Fedor can get cleared soon.

Word from the McDermott luncheon yesterday is that there was no indication Fedor will be resolved soon.

Yeah there hasn’t been any word on Fedor yet. Just basing on last year there was a guy for Florida who wasn’t cleared until mid-Jan

I haven't been following the Fedor thing very closely. I know he came from overseas, but what needs to be cleared/authorized?

This team can’t seem to catch a break.. But if it’s best for Pop and his future- then the surgery needed to happen…

Yes he played professionally in Europe for several years. To this date he is still the youngest player to player in the euro league. He should be cleared at some point but no one knows when.

What a great win in a game that could have been overlooked coming off the huge Kansas win. Especially not knowing that pop was going to be out. The team really stepped up with Traudt having a great game with 15 and Green having a career high 12. Neal just missed a triple double with 19,9,9 and also 4 blocks.

Happy that the Jays have a week off before their next game. Maybe that will give Kalk and Ashworth some time to rest up and the other guys even a little more time to gel without pop. Bad news is they will be facing another top 10 team but this time on the road.

Brad, wish you were at the Kansas game last week taking shots. I bought a poster sized print from a link on the Creighton website, it looks good, but I always love your shots more.

By the way, Kansas lost another game (this time @ Missouri) Hate to see that so soon b/c it takes some of the luster off the Jays' win, but Kansas will be fine.

Didn't necessarily expect the Jays to be ranked, but how is Houston still ranked #15. They lost to bama, Auburn and San Diego St and their best win is prob Butler. Meanwhile, Creighton outside of the Nebraska loss, lost to Texas A&M and SDSU but also have beaten the then-#1 team in the nation handily.

Heard that both Larry Johnson and Sterling Knox are no longer a part of the team. I knew Johnson was struggling, and coaches said he was hit or miss early in the season, but I am surprised that Knox is gone. Especially since the Jays aren't exactly deep at guard.

One of Alabama’s top returning players, Latrell Wrightsell Jr was recently lost for the season. Ruptured Achilles. He’s from Omaha and played for Central. Big blow for the family especially that it happened before the Creighton game, as his Dad, Latrell Wrightsell Sr. starred at Creighton.

Creighton got down by 17 early and could never get it below 6 until the end. They did battle back and only lost by 8 which with all they have dealt with this last week (pop getting season ending surgery, Knox and LJ leaving the team) they did well. Need something from mason miller, but McAndrew got hot late and tied a season high with 16.

On to conference play later this week.

Why does it seem Creighton doesn’t get much production from the bench and I don’t just mean this yr?
I was looking at the stats and last night they had 8 pts and Alabama 28. In the Gonzaga/ UConn game - Gonzaga had 17 pts from the bench and UConn had 26 from theirs.

I think it’s partly how Coach Mac plays them but they talked about it on the post game last night saying that the bench needs to provide more even if it is only 4-6 pts. Having the starters do it all isn’t ideal.

I read an article how coaches sometimes get stuck with using certain (favorites) players and overlook others that are working hard and could possibly contribute so those other players don’t get the reps and/or playing time. I don’t feel this is a just year thing with creighton

Its hard to tell, but at least in recent history Mac has stuck with a pretty tight bench. I find it funny how every year there are numerous stories saying that this is the deepest team they have ever had, only to find out that 7-8 is all that will play. This year may be a little different b/c of the injuries however.

What a terrible game for the Jays. Maybe Georgetown is a bit better but dang no one looked like they even wanted to be there.

I swear Kalk is hurt, he just doesn’t look right.

I was really surprised by last night. Listened to the pregame show, and when Bishop said that Georgetown would not have their point guard, Malik Mack I thought the Jays would be close to locks to win. Mack is a key player. I know Georgetown has a better record than they have had lately but wasn't sure if they were for real.

This is a game Creighton didn't need to start the big east schedule with. There is absolutely no energy in that building (only prob 4,000 in a 20,000 seat arena) Granted the players need to get some excitement and play with passion, that is all on them. There is only so much Mac can do for things like that. I feel like this is completely on the players. Every team has a few bad games each year but the Jays have already had too many this season and to lose their best scorer didn't help.

Hopefully they can find some mojo with the upcoming 2 game homestand vs Nova and St Johns, if not, it could be a really long season.
