Wow, the Commanders looked the better team from start to finish. Those injuries really tallied up for Detroit.

I’m so happy, been a fan my whole life and Washington hasn’t won this big of a game since 1991 when I was 8. Between this and the Creighton upset earlier today, it’s a great birthday weekend for me!

I am stunned. Waking up today I just still don't believe it. It has to have just been a terrible dream.

Re: 2024 NFL Season
I can't quite fathom that the Lions could average 8.7 yards per rushing attempt, only to lose by two touchdowns! Those turnovers were disastrous.
Great game. My favorite play was McLaurin splitting the two defenders to take the screen pass to the house.
Needless to say, the AFC's #1 seed looked more impressive than the NFC's #1 seed.

I swear they were all drunk except Jahmyr Gibbs. I can't fathom it either. That was not the same team! I'm in purgatory.remline wrote: Sun Jan 19, 2025 7:24 am I can't quite fathom that the Lions could average 8.7 yards per rushing attempt, only to lose by two touchdowns! It was also heartbreaking to have Tom Brady (my idol from my other team) on the call. When the Lions were down 14 late, I mean technically there was still a small, small chance. But when Tom Freakin Brady said "Now, I've seen some things (wink wink), but this one here just might be insurmountable", i knew then that it was time to pack my bags and move on.

Re: 2024 NFL Season
Well, I was there. I need to preface this by saying I spent my first 50 years in Omaha & was and still am a Husker fan. Growing up I didn't really have a favorite NFL team. When we moved here the Lions went 0-16. They had a saying about the Lions here. SOL. Same Old Lions. Ok. I went to games over the last 16 years & they lost more than they won. I still enjoyed rooting for a local team.
Having said that, this year was amazing. They found ways to win. They were a cohesive team. Similar to the Huskers of the 90s. I honestly didn't fully grasp the concept of the Lions winning as much as those who grew up here.
The game sucked. There really is no excuse other than a world of injured players. They lost. The energy got sucked out of Ford Field.
So, where does that leave me personally? I'll always be a Husker fan. It's in the blood. The Lions? I'll still go to games & hope for the best but it just isn't the same as it is with the Huskers. The Lions lose? Ok. The Huskers lose? It hurts to the bone.
On to the Pistons & Red Wings. They both are doing well for now.

Re: 2024 NFL Season
Like you, I really became a fan in 2008 when they went 0-16, though i liked them as a little one when Barry was there, mainly for the color LOL. Became even more a fan when Suh went there. The Stafford years were hopeful, but this year just finally felt real. The game sucked. There were no excuses. I still like coach and the players, but something was just not right with the team last night. Injuries had to have a lot to do with it. Hard to be on it when you lose almost all your starters. But still, the way they played the last two games, I thought it was a lock. I even took championship Sunday and the Super Bowl off I was so confident they were going to win. And THUD. And yes, I know the saying, and I uttered those words many times in the last 12 hours. S.O.L.

As far as excuses go, that is a pretty good one! I'm sure their number of injuries will revert to the mean next year, giving them another great chance at making a playoff run.Bob from Omaha wrote: Sun Jan 19, 2025 10:39 am There really is no excuse other than a world of injured players.

Re: 2024 NFL Season
I dont really care much about who wins now, just who can prevent the Chiefs from winning again. Just the way they've won almost every one of their games by some benefit of really lame calls, and now they're going out of their way to intentionally draw those calls instead of playing football, is really cheeky. I don't want to watch any game the Chiefs play in because they play for the flag, not the ball.
Hope the Bills finally take them down to make the Super Bowl tolerable to watch.

As a Cowboys fan, watching the Eagles and Washington play in the NFC championship game is a total nightmare for me.. Now I have to pull for the AFC to win the title again, lol..
But at least the Jays beat UConn. The highlight of my sports weekend…

I don't think that the Chiefs' defense can handle a Saquon. My pick's going with the Eagles.

I actually was also enough of an Eagles fan during the Mike Vick years that i bought a Kelly green Vick jersey. Not so much after he left. And REALLY not so much when they beat the Pats.
Even though they kinda slid in due to Detroit's blunder, I can support them enough if they'll be the ones beating the Chiefs.

Re: 2024 NFL Season
Call me shocked.
I thought the Chiefs were gonna win something like 27-24 on some BS.
Im satisfied.
The Patriots are still THE dynasty, and Tom Brady is STILL the GOAT.
Tom Brady is the real winner tonight.

Re: 2024 NFL Season
From what I have read online and heard on sports radio, most people think the Fox broadcast was bad and that Tom Brady was really bad. We were at a party with with a whole bunch of kids and so I didn't hear enough of the broadcast to make an opinion on it. That said, I generally prefer NBC Sunday Night Football crew with Chris Collinsworth and Mike Tirico.
I'm bummed the Chiefs didn't win, but if they can get shore up the O-Line, the will be back next year.

There are people currently arguing that Mahomes is already the GOAT, or at least had the chance to surpass Brady Last night. They're definitely jumping the gun on that.
Brady is 7-3, Mahomes is 3-2.
Brady never got blown out, embarrassed, Mahomes twice now.
Brady is undefeated in the post season with Mahomes on the other sideline, and Brady was on the other side of that Chiefs blowout loss against the Bucs.
All im saying is you KNOW Tom Brady was holding back a true sense of satisfaction at watching it play out the way it did, all the while being in the booth with essentially nothing to talk about...
I know as a Patriots fan and Tom Brady being a true inspiration to me, we won last night. It feels like a good win, because it will take much more from Mahomes now for anybody to touch speculating who's the real GOAT. It should be a good while.

Meanwhile, here in Detroit.....

Will the Lions have a good season this year? Who knows. It's like being a Husker fan the last 20 or so years.

I really wanted our Lions in it, we were just too banged up. Still feels surreal they got bounced the way they did.
I just didn't want the Chiefs to win again, and I wanted it to be convincing. And it was. Also dipped into my Tom Brady fandom to find a silver lining, and got it. I'm happy with the result.

Yes, that is a silver lining, seeing as how the Chiefs have no Huskers on their team.Busguy2010 wrote: Mon Feb 10, 2025 11:07 am Also, may have gone undernoticed, but the Skers old center Cam Jurgens won a title and played quite well. Beef Jurgy.
Also relevant: Nick Gates is on Eagles injured reserve; Ochaun Mathis is on Eagles practice squad.
