Maybe I’m just getting old, but most of these artists are pretty ghetto. I can only imagine the type fans it will bring down to our family friendly downtown parks. I predict there will be trouble.

So what makes you think this? What types of fans do you think it is going to bring? Millennials? Please do explain.OmahaOmaha wrote: Sat Feb 22, 2025 8:05 am I can only imagine the type fans it will bring down to our family friendly downtown parks. I predict there will be trouble.

When the organizer has to tell fans not to bring their markers, stickers, spray paint, toy weapons or real weapons (including firearms), illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, fireworks, large chains, sharp objects, and explosives, it kind of tells you what kind of people are followed by these artists.BRoss wrote: Sat Feb 22, 2025 11:47 amSo what makes you think this? That sounds like every major event I've gone to in the last 20 years. Are you trying to make assumptions based solely on that? Or is there something you aren't saying? That whole ghetto remark was pretty telling.OmahaOmaha wrote: Sat Feb 22, 2025 1:23 pmWhen the organizer has to tell fans not to bring their markers, stickers, spray paint, toy weapons or real weapons (including firearms), illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, fireworks, large chains, sharp objects, and explosives, it kind of tells you what kind of people are followed by these artists.BRoss wrote: Sat Feb 22, 2025 11:47 amSo what makes you think this? Re: 2025 Tacos & Tequilla Festival
I googled "country music festival" and the first thing that comes up is Carolina Country Music Fest in Myrtle Beach, SC, in early July. A sampling of prohibited items:
- chains and chain wallets
- aerosol cans
- Illegal Drugs & Drug Paraphernalia
- Outside Food, Alcohol, or Drinks
- Fighting / Taunting / Threatening Remarks or Gestures
- Over Intoxication / Signs of Impairment Related to Excessive Alcohol Consumption
- Sling Shots
- Weapons (Guns, ammo, knives, tasers, pepper spray, etc. This prohibition applies to those holding concealed carry permits and off-duty law enforcement.)
Sounds like they must attract a lot of ghetto-|expletive| drunk off-duty cops to these sorts of things. Avoid Myrtle Beach in July at all costs.

I haven’t heard the word “ghetto” be used in this context in about 20 years. Bizarre post.

I think he meant to say it looks very DEI or Woke or something. Hasn't kept up with the current parlance.Linkin5 wrote: Sun Feb 23, 2025 10:10 am I haven’t heard the word “ghetto” be used in this context in about 20 years. Bizarre post.

They had seemingly the same festival at Falconwood Park last year. At least, I assume it was the same.

Re: 2025 Tacos & Tequilla Festival
That’s exactly what I meant. Years ago, my friends John, Nels, and I went to see a local band called Caroline, Alice, and the Notorious Miss B. It was held at the church/event center. You should have been there. They sang “Ringing in the Sheaves” and “Onward Christian Soldiers” beautifully. I actually recorder the whole concert on my talking machine. Anyway, it was a full house, and everyone in attendance were so well behaved.
Then one year, we had a rap concert at the Garvey Event Center. That was before it burned down. Local rapper Big Joe, famous for his song “Yo, I’m Joe” brought out all those little troublemakers that attended the school on the outskirts of town. Most of them actually brought canes to the concert and were waving them around as Big Joe sang and his wife twerked behind him. After the concert, all those rowdy youngsters hung out in the Mercantile District. A lot of us in the community felt so unsafe, we decided to move to Mankato.

It’s nice to see that a Latino themed event has zero music acts representing the local Latino community.
Not.
Not.
