Definitely an improvement. Especially in the resale value of the condos in the south tower that face north. As long as they are warm in the winter, they will have a pleasant view and a depending on the nature of the speaker arrays, a nice sound from the band shell.

Is that platform going to be a permanent structure or is it just to make it look nice until someone wants to do something with the site?
When fortune smiles on something as violent and ugly as revenge, it seems proof like no other that not only does God exist, you're doing his will.

That is the stage for Jazz on the Green and other events. It looks like they removed the tent cover for the winter.

Driving east on Douglas I passed Park Ave (I think) and the whole SE corner building is gone. I believe that Turner Park North LLC now owns all of the land to the east except Twin Tower South, Including everything east of the Clarinda. Rumor has it they are turning it into Greenspace?

Hmm. Including Runza, Godfather's, Romeo's the Women's Clinic, Little King and the Liquor Store? That is a lot of quicker cheaper dinning options that could be leaving midtown, not thrilled about that if true. Some of those buildings I don't mind seeing go, but I can't see that land being used as anything more than a temporary green space. Way to much value to be had on that land.

I think he meant the remaining platform of the north tower.

Rumor is also that they are trying to buy the Clarinda and tear it down. I believe that the Clarinda is on the National Historic Register. Let's hope that Mutual (parent company of Turner Park North) is not so short-sighted.

That is a big rumor that is floating around. I would hope Omaha doesn't allow that to happen.

The Clarinda is an Omaha Landmark - so, as I understand it, a hearing would need to be held before demolition.

Can anybody refresh my memory on what the story is on the parking structure directly to the north of the 3000 Farnam building (Twin tower).

I have looking at a condo there and am wondering why that parking is not being used.

This building? It doesn't seem to have much capacity.

It might be structurally unsound after the north tower demolition. I know they wanted to keep it for the parking but I feel like it ended up not being usable.

I feel this is what I've heard on this forum for it too. I am not sure if there are any primary sources.

If I remember correctly, the building torn down was apartments. The building that stayed was condos. More than one condo owner also owned parking spaces in that garage. They didn’t want to lose their coveted parking. They kept the covered parking as a compromise.

Thanks for the info, There is an underground parking garage there, not just the visible structure. But it is not being used. I was curious as to why it is not being used.

Not sure if true or not, but I heard the below ground portion is full of water.

I feel that if that were true, the above ground would condemned and either torn down or forced to repair before it was torn down / fell down. Surfside condos being a great example of why.

Mutual owns that property which is probably another reason.
