Whataburger
Don't know any specifics, but someone told me they "heard on the news" that Whataburger will be here in 2027.

Right?! Surprised Rod Yates hasn't announced them as a coming tenant to the current NEX layout or his Yates-Land Magic Kingdom.nebugeater wrote: Sat Mar 15, 2025 3:33 pmIMO anything that far out as a "will be here" is someones wishful thinkingBusguy2010 wrote: Sat Mar 15, 2025 12:53 pm Don't know any specifics, but someone told me they "heard on the news" that Whataburger will be here in 2027.

Re: Whataburger
Yeah, I've been trying to find anything on it to no avail. If the person who told me really dreamt it, it had to have been a really good vivid dream. They have no reason to pull my chain and they don't even know I love Whataburger. I guess we'll see? If it is true, it would certainly be welcomed, and Sarpy County in general seems like a fitting introductory area.

There’s going to be one in KC, so naturally, that means Omaha is getting one. At least I think that’s how that rumor mill works…

Yep, we drove by it but didn't stop. Went to a local Brewery that also served BBQ instead. Doesn't Patrick Mahomes own the KC Whataburger?

Re: Whataburger
A quick Google search shows that the KC area has at least 10 locations. Mahomes has ownership of at least some of those locationsBrad wrote: Sat Mar 15, 2025 11:13 pmYep, we drove by it but didn't stop. Went to a local Brewery that also served BBQ instead. He brought it there. Evidently a big fan & a fat wallet. I thought Whataburger was ok but still simple fast food.

I thought it tastes kind of similar to Burger King with a little bit more texas kick to it with peppers and spice. I do like their spicy ketchup.Bob from Omaha wrote: Sun Mar 16, 2025 11:11 am He brought it there. Evidently a big fan & a fat wallet. I thought Whataburger was ok but still simple fast food.
I'd be happier with an In N Out for their prices or Shake Shack because it's better than the other two.

Re: Whataburger
I had Shake Shack first time a couple of weeks ago. Waaaaay overpriced. $30 for two people. I could get out of Culver's for $20/2 people, and the burger is just as good.Stan wrote: Sun Mar 16, 2025 7:05 pmI thought it tastes kind of similar to Burger King with a little bit more texas kick to it with peppers and spice. Yeah I have been to Shake Shack a couple times and didn't get the hype. First was in Atlanta's airport so not sure if that was a true representation. Also hit one on the Plaza in KC and came away equally unimpressed.damonhynes wrote: Sun Mar 16, 2025 7:22 pmI had Shake Shack first time a couple of weeks ago. Waaaaay overpriced. $30 for two people. Whataburger is expanding now outside of KC. They opened in Lawrence KS and next month in Topeka.

Re: Whataburger
I think one day they naturally will. I still wanna know where this person heard any mention of them coming here in 2027. Of course the same person told me the coming soon sign for wienerschitzel was for whataburger, which was an understandable confusion, and also would have been a nice spot for a whataburger.Omaha Cowboy wrote: Mon Mar 17, 2025 1:11 pmFingers crossed they expand into the Omaha area soon…Greg S wrote: Mon Mar 17, 2025 8:50 am Whataburger is expanding now outside of KC. Culvers is elite, but I don't remember Shake Shack being that much more in New Jersey. Granted it was about 5 years ago now so inflation and East Coast prices are different.damonhynes wrote: Sun Mar 16, 2025 7:22 pmI had Shake Shack first time a couple of weeks ago. Looks like a similar meal in KC, KS is 11.39 at Culvers and 15.47 at Shake Shack.

I still want an In-n-out, it might be overall mediocre but for 8ish bucks for a meal it's pretty much unbeatable at this point.

I also think Omaha pushing past the 1 million metro population mark has to help in this expansion endeavor…Busguy2010 wrote: Mon Mar 17, 2025 10:50 pmI think one day they naturally will.Omaha Cowboy wrote: Mon Mar 17, 2025 1:11 pmFingers crossed they expand into the Omaha area soon…Greg S wrote: Mon Mar 17, 2025 8:50 am Whataburger is expanding now outside of KC.
