Interesting. I did hear on 1620 that the Crown tournament has some sort of NIL prize pool. They also said it looks like the NIT is now for mid majors and below, and the Crown tournament was leaning towards teams from the power conferences.

Seven Huskers Earn Academic All-Big Ten Honors

The group includes Henry Burt, Berke Büyüktuncel, Connor Essegian, Jeffrey Grace III, Sam Hoiberg, Cale Jacobsen and Rienk Mast. Nebraska’s seven honorees tied the school record of seven set last season. They were among the 83 men’s basketball players honored from around Big Ten Conference programs.

Of the seven Huskers, four are repeat selections. Hoiberg makes his third consecutive appearance on the team, while Jacobsen, Grace and Burt are two-time picks. Büyüktuncel, Essegian and Mast was honored for the first time at Nebraska. In all, 29 Huskers have earned Academic All-Big Ten honors in Hoiberg’s six seasons, including 20 over the last three years.

To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, students must be on a varsity team (as verified by being on the official squad list as of March 1 for winter sports), have been enrolled full time the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.

Brice Williams scored a game-high 30 points to lead three Huskers in double figures, as Nebraska rallied for an 86-78 win over Arizona State in the first round of the College Basketball Crown Monday evening.

While Williams posted his fourth 30-point game of the season, Nebraska (18-14) also got 18 points from Juwan Gary and 17 from Connor Essegian off the bench – all in the second half - as the Huskers picked up their first postseason win since 2019.

Obviously it was quite a bit under 4k. It would have been brutal if not for the Nebraska fans. I could turn away from TV and know when things were going Nebraska ways because of the cheering. Didn't hear anything from ASU fans. Sounded like a home game.

Yep, it's definitely a made for TV (or more accurately, made for FOX TV) event. Was nice seeing Essegian have a big night. Also was really surprised how much playing time Cale Jacobsen got. I think that's the most he's ever played in a game that I have watched. By a long shot. Not sure if that was by necessity with Worster out for the tournament and Gavin Griffith out for at least last night, or if it was more of an evaluation for next year?

Yeah the tournament has to be thankful to have Nebraska. There's talk on Husker boards from fans that will go if NU makes it to the weekend. Right now I think the Husker fans that are turning out are more to regional out there.
