Cool Shot Brad. I’ve always loved that p.o.v. with old Mutual in middle of Douglas framed by the tallest buildings. Once new Mutual is finished I wonder if it’d be possible(with the right lens?) to move a little to the right and get more of the Woodmen in the frame too?

Thanks. Yes, it should be possible. I used my 16-35 at 16mm for this. I also have a 10mm that should work. Could always shoot a pano if needed.

The area around the Tenaska building has since opened up from the last time I was down there. There's a glittering glass sculpture row in there against the backdrop of the Specht building, and green space for a future garden.

Went on the Tenaska Center Media tour today, but we can’t post the photos until 10:30 am tomorrow, after the ribbon cutting. I won’t have computer access tomorrow morning so look for the photos on the Grow Omaha Facebook page tomorrow and then I will try to get them posted on here later in the day.

Open house this Sunday from 12-4

I went today, as did quite a few other people. The tours were self guided but they handed out placards with full maps and descriptions of the rooms on each floor (there are 4 floors total, with administrative offices occupying most of the second level). The building appears well designed and very functional. One of the medium sized classrooms on the north facing side was left relatively unfinished. The guide in that room said that it will take some time to determine what additional needs the facility might have, and that room can then be reconfigured to serve those needs. I like that forethought.
The largest event room comfortably seats over 200 at large round tables, and faces the southeast, overlooking the mall. A central staircase features a beautiful piece of modernesque artwork suspended from the ceiling. Otherwise there isn’t much art to grab your attention. Outdoors there is a decent sized “garden” area with a small stage built into the ground. I guessing that maybe 150-200 people could lounge out there for a small concert in good weather.
The building is attached to the Holland Center via doors on if I recall the third floor. Otherwise these are two totally separate structures, with their own identities.

Here is a photo of the public connection. Since the Tenaska Center operates more like a school, it was vey intentional to keep them separate. The one public connection connects the large event space to the Holland Lobby so it can be used by the Holland Center and and still keep it isolated from the education facility. There are doors on the opposite end of the room so the Tenaska center can use will keeping people in the Holland center out.

Will be curious the shows they book and how often it is used. Pretty much a direct competitor for Slowdown and Waiting Room.
