Does it drive anyone else's OCD a little crazy that this opening isn't in the middle of the glass? Man, I hope that additional demo/construction centers this, or else its gonna bug me every time I go to the airport...the1wags wrote: Fri Apr 25, 2025 2:00 pm Definitely making progress at the airport. I am assuming that it's not complete and the wall to the left will come down and glass will replace it... I really wish the tan brick would be replaced with stone or some other finish but according to the renderings that isn’t going to happen.

I was thinking how dated it looks too. Some paint or stain would go along way to fresh it up.skinzfan23 wrote: Sat Apr 26, 2025 9:09 am I really wish the tan brick would be replaced with stone or some other finish but according to the renderings that isn’t going to happen.

Does the canopy have LED lighting in it? It’s hard to tell but looks like they can even change colors?

On Abbott Drive, in front of the south garage, they built what looks like a large bus stop in the aerial above. What is that?

The shuttles have been using that as a drop off the past few months. It's just a temporary tent.TitosBuritoBarn wrote: Thu Jul 10, 2025 3:18 pm On Abbott Drive, in front of the south garage, they built what looks like a large bus stop in the aerial above. What is that?
I suppose it could be a natural bus stop in the future.

Re: Omaha Eppley Airfield - CONSTRUCTION
KETV had a brief blurb on their 6 p.m. news that the airport authority reports the canopy project is completed "on-time" and on budget. The on-time claim seems a bit dubious given the initial reports were the canopy and roadway construction would be done by the end of 2024 and then early 2025. But it is good to get another thing checked off the list.

I don't have a problem with the cover at Eppley.
I just think the one at the Grand Rapids airport is visually more interesting along with being monolithic.

Re: Omaha Eppley Airfield - CONSTRUCTION
That's fine for them if they want to, it fits since their airport has more curve elements. That curvy style does not fit with the angular design of Eppley Airfield, lest the design of Eppley becomes inconsistent inside and out.
Besides, Grand Rapids and the Tulsa airport, incorporate curve elements like those.
Uniqueness and a cohesive design is prefered for Eppley, over copying curve style elements of these other airports

I like the wave flow of that airport canopy, but it also reminds me of an older design and for some reason I'm thinking old style mall design like the center court of Oakview.

Ha, definitely that glass color. I was trying to think of why I didn't like it. The wave is wing shaped. There are lots of other airports that incorporate a wing shape. It's almost like they have something to do with airplanes.

Re: Omaha Eppley Airfield - CONSTRUCTION
Hope you don't mind, I took a min and straightened your photo. I really wanted to see what it looked like without the hard lean to it.
Overall I think the canopy looks great, really nice addition to the airport. That said, please tell me the 1980's elevated skywalks will be remodeled to match the new canopy material and the ugly old lights inside the skywalk will be replaced with something closer to the color temperature of the rest of the lights. Not the blue, but more a true white as opposed to the yellowish look they have now.
