Here is a perspective from 5 miles away, from the lookout point at the top of the bluff in Fairmount Park, Council Bluffs. I used my Nikon zoom lens. From this distance one can get a good idea of the relative heights of the two towers.

Still a perspective thing. From 72 and Center and other place to the west, the Woodman still appears taller.

Another two floors of steel going up today, as see on the falcon cam, as well as the KETV Harrah's live cam.

Happy World Series, everyone!

I know that these are similar views as to what Brad showed the other day, but I figured some views from inside the stadium would be nice as well.

I agree, that was one of my favorites. I love how much more expansive and spread out the CBD feels now; really makes the skyline fill that whole opening S from the stadium.

Really need a 400ft plus tower at 1416 dodge! Then the skyline would really look balanced have a much more ‘big city’ feel, especially on the drive in from the airport.

On a side note, how long has Lanoha and Alvine been in big letters on that building?

I would add, a 3-400 footer at the State Building site would also enhance that view, connecting the Landmark with the rest of the core. Also, a high rise on the lot east of MoO would add some nice fill in.

Thanks for this. As the Mutual Tower is being constructed "at the moment", it looks like a mini version of the Willis Tower in Chicago.

I’ve been thinking that too. New signage would maybe help and definitely some paint and a new lighting scheme. Of course, there’s a few other buildings in the area that would also benefit from the same.

I don’t think a 300 footer would be enough to enhance the skyline much. Consider UPC is 317’ or 319’ (depending on the source). Let’s shoot for at least 350’ at the SOB site and 450-500’ at 1416 Dodge.

The goal should be 25-30 stories (minimum). It might be a decade, but that lot is a contributor to the image of the city.

Is Pic #1 the far top corner of the stadium? Wow, my fear of heights is triggered just from looking at that...

It is. They are great seats, when I walked up there to shoot my photos on Saturday, it felt 20 degrees cooler up there with a really nice breeze. I'd sit up there before the bleachers every day of the week.

I agree....not that it was hot last night, but it almost felt cold up there with the breeze.

Pretty cool to see what I'm assuming is a door out to a rooftop deck in that wall of glass.

I could be wrong, but I thought that is the plan for that floor on the east side too, overlooking the park.

I have been amazed at how late they have been working these past few nights. I have been downtown each of the last 2 nights and both nights they were still using the crane until 9:30 at night. Maybe they are trying to get a lot done before the heat these next few days.

Makes sense. It’s going to not just be insanely hot but also humid as well. I’d make the same trade off.

They have been doing that for over a year now. When I took those photos last year of the crane going all the way around, that was around 9pm when second shift was on break. Some weeks they have been working 7 days a week too.

Wow didn't know that...thats why those crane operators get such a high wage. My sister used to date a guy that was the main crane operator on the Midtown Crossing project. They work a ton of hrs but they make a great salary and only have to work 6 months of the year to make what most people do in 12.
