What is it looking like for tomorrow's 6pm CWS game? I haven't been to a game since 2019, but I have tickets for tomorrow, just trying to judge if I should sell them or not if there is a great chance of a storm.
Just going based off the NWS, I havent watched local news on it.
Just based of what they're putting together, I feel the field being saturated in the am, rain throught the afternoon, mixed with thunder and heavier precipitation in the evening.
I just don't see how they're gonna fit them in. I'm sure there'll be a rain check though, they have to play the games at some point.

Just a heads up that it's possible that this severe warned storm west of Sioux City comes down here and impacts our area - its gradually turning more and more south/southeast anyway. It'll "probably" start dying out as it moves into the warmer air mass over our area but it might now - something to be aware of over the next few hours.
This sure looks likely based on the current radar.

It kinda depends on these storms over the next few hours tbh. I know that sounds odd but hear me out.
If they collapse early enough before they get here. They’ll push an outflow boundary to our south and stabilize the air here. That means the storms late tonight that are expected to push in from the west may collapse in our area as they move into our area. If this happens, Omaha may only get minor amounts of rain tonight/early tomorrow. Then it could come down to what happens as new storms form tomorrow…but I’m not convinced Omaha specifically will get a bunch of rain out of this (IF these first storms collapse soon though).
Well, just see how it looks in morning and the afternoon. Based on the forecast, I wouldnt bother even going down there. Just if I was in your shoes. It just looks like "ITS GON RAIN" (family guy).
With the prices as they are nowadays, I can see why you need to weigh that decision. Though, the NWS has been wrong, and the OmaDome has prevailed many times. I just don't know.

Yeah, they seem like they’re starting to collapse though. Outflow boundary surging out ahead of them so I’d expect them to start decreasing in intensity soon…
Looks like Omaha is going to get hit even though it is gradually weakening…but it may or may not be severe by the time it hits Omaha itself. Northwest suburbs it’s more likely…
I'd bet what happened tonight changed what will happen tomorrow. The NWS backed off, and Bill just said it may not rain until 5 or 6 or so.
So there's I'd say, potential, that they can get the delayed game in at 10am, and get the scheduled 1pm game in. A little iffy though. The night game is the one to keep an eye on.

It for sure did - the storms pushed an outflow boundary south like I thought it might. I don’t know if we’ll get anything in Omaha tomorrow until after dark and maybe not until after midnight so I’d be surprised if the CWS games have any issues - at least not any issues like tonight where the game can't be resumed after a relatively short delay.
The short range models do try to develop a few scattered/isolated storms in the area in the 5 PM - 8 PM time frame but right now that risk seems higher west and north of town - but its close enough that it's impossible to tell for sure where those will end up.
Regardless, looking increasingly likely we aren’t going to get a bunch of rain out of this (like I also mentioned yesterday). I'm assuming most people in Omaha didn't get a ton of rain yesterday even with the storm. Better than nothing - just not the 1-2"+ totals it was looking like would happen a few days ago.

Saw this posted - looks like that game will be impacted

Yeah, it'll just depend where exactly the scattered storms end up developing later if Omaha specifically gets hit. Impossible to really know yet at this point.

That’s my fear, and I won’t be able to make it if they move the game to wed day for example.
After seeing the midday forecast, I say go for it! Local news and the NWS just keep backing out. The model that KETV showed had us barely getting swept for a little bit, and Luke sounded very 50/50. I dunno what the lightning radius is.
The game will probably get delayed to a degree, but I've been to plenty of games that got delayed a couple hours and finished up around 11 or 12.
Thanks for all the input....I actually listed my tickets this morning and was prob set to lose a few bucks but now there are a ton more listed and the prices have come way down. I think I might give it a shot and try to go.

Eh? KETV's model is showing a different solution than the ones I have access to, but if it is right, there is a chance the afternoon game gets delayed at some point, the evening game certainly wouldn't start on time, and might get delayed at around 8 if it had even started yet.
I'll just continue with what I've pretty much been saying all along. I think odds of us getting much in Omaha itself are fairly low. That said, random storms can always popup this time of year (like what already happened west of town like an hour ago). Similar to what happened west of town, these storms will likely die out almost as fast as they develop since there isn't enough shear, etc for them to be able to sustain themselves. It's just a matter of exactly where these random popup storms develop and then die out over the next several hours if we get anything locally or not.

Its crazy, the NWS had us with potentially up to 2" of rain today... And to end up with nothing.
I'm glad it didn't ruin anybodys day, but with the extreme heat coming in a couple days, I was really hoping for it to come through.
We need a big gulp, but only get a sip of it here and there. Mother nature is almost antagonistic to us.
I’m not at all surprised. By Monday afternoon already it was looking likely that the heavy rain totals weren’t going to verify in Omaha Monday night/Tuesday. That boundary with the storms that moved through pushed everything south of us.
Godspeed to everybody, and especially those without ac, and those spectating and playing the CWS. The forecast LOW for Saturday and Sunday is 81. That'll get your blood flowing. GOLLY.
We were under a severe thunderstorm warning for a while. It was quite a widespread warning. And there are limbs down throughout the neighborhood. Luckily not a lot of power out. I was genuinely nervous about that, what with it being in the 100's the next few days, and the way the trees were getting tossed around. I actually said a little prayer. Just a very unexpected storm.
I agree, that was a little unexpected. My high point is where the Bellevue Bay waterpark is being built so I went over there last night and got quite the lightning show. In Bellevue we didn't get strong winds and only got. .10".
Next week is looking like a very active stretch of severe weather in the local area. I'd be surprised if they don't start adding our area to severe weather outlooks for next week in the coming days.

Heck of a back to back run here. 3 blisteringly hot days followed by 3-4 days of severe weather possibilities.

Hey, if we're gonna get this frickin hot, let's swing for the fences and break the record, which is 104. I take it with a grain of salt, but my current reading on the north side of my house is 104.7.
NWS is reporting 100 right now, but still time left in the day. KETV forecast 103 for today.
We're almost certain to break the record tomorrow, which is 100, with a NWS forecast high of 101.
Make that another warmth record broken/set this year. Gotta be at least 5?
This time it was for the record warm low of 82 this morning.
We didn't make the record high today, but we have a good shot at the record high tomorrow. And I think Bill was saying we also have a shot at the record warm low for tomorrow morning.
I know I sound like a broken record, but it just keeps happening. And I do not like warm, especially not this bull. I don't care to confirm it ATM, but I'm pretty sure we've had at least one warmth record drop each month this year.
Its just been bonkers. Add to that the moisture deficit. This year has not been my cup of tea
