I'm just surprised how everything is pickle this, pickle that now. Its a complete 180 turn from what I ever knew. I always was weird for liking pickles, and I remember when the most outlandish thing was when Lay's came out with the dill pickle chips, which I was all over. It was divisive back then, and boy I wish I had a bag with me right now. Miss Vicky's also has a spicy dill pickle chip that is pretty nice. But... Come on, pickle lemonade and pickle slushie? I mean, I would try it, but I wouldn't go out and pay for it.

Have you tried the Heinz Pickle Tomato Ketchup? I believe it is relatively new, having been introduced within the last year.

I've tried it, and it's surprisingly good. Not a replacement for real pickles, but a good option for something quick

Sonic has partnered with Grillo's Pickles (I am not familiar with them at all, but then I'm not a dill pickle eater). So, you can get a Big Dill Double Sonic Smasher burger, Pickle Seasoned Tots/Fries, and even a Picklerita Slush to drink. As someone who doesn't care for dill pickles I find the entire selection horrific, but I'm guessing others will love it.

^ Like I said a few posts prior, I like pickles, but man, these pickle menus are a little too much. I'm sure they're selling because people want to try the novelty. But I can't imagine anybody is genuinely tearing it up. Maybe I'm wrong about that, but it seems they're just going for the shock factor, not the items genuinely being good...? If somebody gave it to me, I would try it, but I don't imagine I'd get past a bite or two of the burger, a sip of the slushie, and a handful of the tots.

And I don't know what is up with pickles lately. I was at Hy-vee few weeks ago and was craving pickles, but coincidentally, I walked down their impulse buy aisle, and I saw Sour Punch Straws "Pickle Roulette". And well, they got me. There's four flavors and they're all green, including the pickle flavor. I ate three of them, and I got to the pickle flavor, and eww. I mean, that's clearly the idea, but now there's like 30 other straws that I haven't eaten cause they all have a slight flavor of pickle.

My fault, I know, but like, pickles are good. Pickles are pickles. I just don't get why they're trying to make pickle everything. If you like pickles, then eat a pickle. Or pickle flavored chips are cool, but they're gettin awful far into left field lately with the pickle theme.

Upon further inspection, the candy company had apparently come out with a standalone pickle flavor prior to me knowing, and the first line is "Following the raving success of Pickle Candy Straws, we've upped the ante with these tantalizing Pickle Roulette Bites".

That's what I'm saying. I'm not condemning it or anything, its just been an odd craze IMO.

Drove by today at noon, and there were a number of contractor vehicles there taking the signage off the building, the order board from the drive-through, and some stuff going on inside from what I could see. Having the Contractor there today was planned for a while. Feel sorry for the workers

Hardee's used to be so much better. I think back to those thick, juicy, and charred patties of the past, and the last time I had them a couple years ago. It was just no semblance. Probably will never go back.

Saw that after I drove past and saw the work. I guess it is possible that they never mentioned a reopen date on the board. I will drive by again tomorrow, if possible, and see what it looks like.

Don't ask why this is one of those things that bugs the |expletive| out of me... I just saw a Burger King commercial - and this is common to any sandwich related commercial ever created - its always two things: the actor clearly doesn't take a bite of the sandwich and fake chews it, and/or they have the sandwich or burger and toppings positioned in a way that in the real world, you'd only get a tiny bite while the rest of your meal slides out from between the buns.

Why is that THE marketing strategy? Can they not find actors that actually want to eat the product they're trying to sell? You could pull me off the street for free to genuinely take a bite of a delicious burger lol. Or, is the burger in the commercial just a prop? If so, why? And last, I get why they want the components of the burger to be in the most viewable position for the commercial, but I swear if I ever saw anybody in real life eat a burger like that I'd smack em.

It must be a universal marketing strategy, because its in every sandwich commercial. It just doesn't make sense to me, it makes me feel like a) they think everybody's stupid and doesn't notice, or b) everybody is stupid and doesn't notice.

Either way its disingenuous, and like I said you could pull me off the street to take a bite of a sandwich. Or like the great Dave Chappelle says "I'm waiting for a Chicken to approach me to do a commercial. 'I'll do it for free, Chicken! Its the least I can do.'"

While I'm on it, now I noticed this a long time ago, and I'm not being insensitive, just being real, now hear me: Burger King's jingle "BK, have it your way"... at the end of their commercials. Its prominent, you can hear it from other rooms. But I THINK with 99% certainty its intentional the way they sing it. They sing the "B" normal, and they sing the "K" with a kind of... lazy annunciation, so it sounds like... Well, you know. I can't say it, but you know... I really think it's a very, very subtle way for Burger King to have one foot in the door, and the other out on LGBTQ in advertising. Its merely a way to tap a group to get their money, as corporations do across the board. But if there was any one fast food company to subtly be half in and half out on LGBTQ in advertising, it would be BK. And I JUST noticed in their latest commercial, they didn't include the jingle at the end, so maybe they quietly slid out the door. Its very subtle, but fascinating to analyze the marketing behind it.

You can make an amusing hobby out of observing actors eat. Especially the extras in the background. Once you start seeing it, then it can never be unseen.

Ah, well, anyway... I ended up looking it up to make sure I'm not just a heartless bigot, and I'm not the only person that hears it that way. You see it in other commercials too. It really ramped up since 2020 or so. It isn't not a thing.

BTW, I dont hate gay people, I just recognize companies trying to prove their wokeness to get as much of everybody's dollar as possible. If my kid ends up being gay, that'd be alright. But having it in commercials and on shows and movies does bring it in the home. It just feels a little... I dunno, crossing the line from acceptance to encouragement.

And listen, I was a HUGE SpongeBob fan growing up. I've recently seen some episodes after a 20-something year break. Well, you look at it with the adult eye and... Just, to think, Sandy Cheeks was one of my first crushes. What a fool I was lol.

There is a construction shipping container and a telehandler in the parking lot today. I have seen multiple posts that could very well be a repeat of one rumor that Freedies is going to repurpose this location. Time will tell

For some reason craving a Subway Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki, and I haven't had Subway but one time in the last 10 years. My god, a 6" is almost $9! I guess I'll forget that idea lol. And a footlong is almost $14! Insanity. Oh the days of the 5 dollar foot long.

On the other hand, its Whopper Wednesday, so you can get a Whopper for $3.99. I'll surely take that up instead.

Ironically I was craving a meatball sub from Subway a few weeks ago - went into the app and was able to order it for less. However, after having the sandwich, I won't be going back - perhaps never. I went over lunch time to 108th & L St, which was a Goodrich 20 years ago, I believe. They had large portable air conditioners inside as their main A/C (guessing the roof unit was broken down). Thought it would be a temp fix, but the two units they had were faded and covered in dust.

Pop machine was extremely nasty and their menu boards were faded like they'd seen direct sunlight for 5 years.

Needless to say, the sandwich sucked. The bread was hard, the meatballs weren't hot and I felt they were smaller (the meatballs) than before. The only thing good about it was the chips which were in a sealed bag.

Thankfully I was able to order the meal for about $6, but even at that price, it wasn't worth it. Either Subway has gone significantly downhill, or that location is simply terrible. Either way, it was such a bad experience that I'll avoid that place going forward.

If you get the urge to order the sub, I hope it's better than mine was!!!

I had a really great experience (at least as far as atmosphere and customer service) at the Subway in Shadow Lake Towne Center. Also, it's sort of tucked away in the corner of the shopping area, so it doesn't get too slammed at lunch time. Unfortunately, the sandwich still tasted like a Subway sandwich. lol

Anyone else love the distinctive Subway smell. Like, you could be blindfolded and taken into a Subway and you'd know you're in a Subway. Perhaps it's just nostalgic, but I love that smell. I couldn't care less for the food.

I have gone to the Subway in Shadow Lake and the one in Twin Creek in Bellevue, both are ok....still Subway.

The one that isn't quite the same is the one on Galvin.

Thats how I even knew the price. I could have just showed up there all willy nilly, thinking, you know, its Subway, it should be cheap, but I would have been sorely mistaken.

$14 for a freakin Subway sandwich. Who do they think they are? Its just comical. Probably the reason why I never go there.

I did notice they have a $6.99 six inch sub meal deal of the day, that comes with a drink and chips. But having not been there in forever, how would I know that If I walked up and wanted just the sandwich? The sandwich itself is $9, while if you get the meal on the right day, its $6.99? That doesnt make sense. The drink is probably $1.25 of it, the chips probably $1 of it. So they're telling me they could sell me just the sandwich for $4.50 (which I would have gladly taken) but penalize you for just wanting the sandwich. Thats a hard pass.

All of the Walmart super centers I regular have Subways right by the entrance, and yes, I can say it is a distinctive and endearing smell. I'm guessing toasty Italian herb and cheese (my favorite) bread, or just the bread in general.

The last time I went to Subway, I just felt like I was asking for too much. The worker was really stingy, and I'm a guy that likes lots of all the toppings. I felt like an inconvenience. Im thinking to myself "im just trying to make it look like the advertisement".

Anyway, if they expect that much for a crappy sandwich, they shouldn't also make you feel like youre over doing it. For $14 I should get whatever toppings I want.

So that begs the question, what is your ideal Subway sandwich? Forget if they make it good or not, what Subway sandwich makes your day?

I can't say I've tired them all, or even ventured much in their menu. My all time favorite is the Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki, and my toppings are : red onion, banana pepper, a weeks worth of spinach, sweet onion sauce, oil and vinegar, black pepper, American cheese, and on an italian herbs and cheese bun, toasted.

The Subway that used to be at the Cubby's/Cenex at 84th & Hwy 370 (now gone - it's now a Tommy's Express Car Wash) was open 24/7 back in the early 90s. So, if you wanted Subway at 3:00 AM on a Tuesday you had an option. Are there still any 24-hour Subways in the Omaha area?

I'm not a big sandwich eater. Lunchmeat on bread just doesn't excite me, but I was always a sucker for Subway's meatball sub. Sometimes I would even get the Chicken Breast sub and have them put the marinara from the meatballs on it and make my own Chicken Parmesan sub., I'm not sure whole chicken breast is still a meat option.

My wife's Subway order is so long and convoluted that they probably mutter profanity the entire time they're making it. lol

Ha, relatable. I think that's why I never want to go there, cause I get a lot of toppings. I get a side eye every time. They dont understand what I mean when I say I want A LOT of spinach, I have to push em. I just feel like an inconvenience pretty much every time I'd go there. I can't really blame em though.

Last time I went to Subway was in Ft Worth. We saw a highway sign that listed it, and thought why not? I like the Subway Club.

When we got there we realized it was across the street from a police station, and had some very interesting characters there. We got our food and quickly left. It’s really hard to eat a Subway sandwich while driving on the interstate!

Ha, relatable. I think that's why I never want to go there, cause I get a lot of toppings. I get a side eye every time. My Mom and Dad are up there in years. They Like their Subway sandwiches. On occasion, when we go up on the weekend, I get sandwiches for them, and I am usually driving early in the morning. I used to pick them up the evening before, but then I discovered that the Subway located near Loves by Valley is open early. That location is amazing for the amount of toppings that I end up getting. I do not ask for extra or a lot, but every time I get a sandwich that is filled to the point it's not foldable. Maybe it is the time of day and specific people working then, but I am really happy with his service. I receive a coupon page in the mail every so often, and I use these; it is much more affordable. I believe I got two foot-longs last time I brought them to my parents a few weeks ago for about $13

Huh, maybe it just a matter of the management here in the city. What you described sounds like how its supposed to be. Unfortunately its gonna cost me as much in gas and time to go to Valley lol. Sounds great though, two foot longs for $13, sounds like a dream.

Yes! That is exactly the description of my ideal Subway sandwich. It should basically be a giant salad on top of some bread.

I see Chick-fil-A trying a little bit. Just saw an ad for a pretzel bun, cheddar chicken sandwich that you can get in grilled, original, or spicy. And it has *gasp* Dijon mustard on it.

It's still not incredibly adventurous, but it does sound pretty good. I just about never go to Chick-fil-A, cause they're the next most "bread and butter" place behind Cane's. Not to say they're not good, just not interesting. Seems like theyre trying to appeal to a different audience, and that MAY just get me to go there.
