Re: The Omaha Supernovas (Pro Volleyball)
We plan to make about half the games. looking forward to opening night. Also the TV package is expanded this year to FS2 and CBS Sports Network in additional to YouTube. It’s so cool to have another series of events filling the arena and bringing activity downtown. Hopefully the league can grow up around us.
My old signature got too old. So old it was getting almost as old me as me. Yeah, it was up there in years.

100% agree. Great to see 12-15 days filled downtown. Hope this momentum continues

Sounds like they are leaving their current league, wonder what the other teams will do.

Re: The Omaha Supernovas (Pro Volleyball)
The Supernovas are by far the most successful team in the league. It looks like they may have wanted more control over how things worked in it. Or maybe they’re not happy with how their old league is being run now.

.....In the background, Rod Yates diligently types up his request to the State of Nebraska to name NEX the Volleyball capital of the US, and asks for $100 billion to develop 10,000 total acres.

More than 12,700 attend the Suernovas’ 2nd home game of the 2025 season. Unfortunately, the game itself was a loss.

I was at the supernovas game Saturday. The announcer introduced a representative from fivb. Apparently he was in town reviewing Omaha to be a host city for the fivb volleyball world championships.

Re: The Omaha Supernovas (Pro Volleyball)
The #1 seed Supernovas were eliminated in the semifinals in five sets by Indy (Indianapolis). Will this be the end of competing in the PVF. Omaha's owners announced in January that they will leave the PVF after this season, but there hasn't had any news since then about a new league.

Will be interesting to see what the offseason brings as far as teams and leagues. Obviously the Supernovas drew incredibly well here. LOVB Omaha drew pretty well. Sounds like a few other markets did well like Wisconsin, but many struggled. Should be interesting to follow.

Reading from the link
I don't know anything about Athletes Unlimited, but if I interpret this correctly, it sounds like a cluster. Even though it is only four weeks, if there are different players set up as teams each week, it sounds more like an all-star game than a team or league. Both leagues have viewed Athletes Unlimited as complementary, with that season running at a different time of the year and featuring several of their players. Launched in 2021, AU scores individual players over a four-week season with new teams drafted each week.

I saw this too a shor time ago. I wonder if he will be hands on involved or if he is joining for name and credibility.Brad wrote: Wed Aug 06, 2025 1:12 pm Interesting... John Cook joins Supernovas as General manager and Co-Owner.
When he retired from the Huskers, one of his statements I remember was that he wanted to go live at his ranch in Wyoming ( think it is wyoming)

Possibly. Obviously many of the GM duties can be done remotely. Also I don't think the time demands of this league compare to what he was doing as coach at NU. I guess with John I don't really see him as doing something in name only.

One new team for the upcoming season will be Dallas. However, the Las Vegas Thrill will not have a team next season. In other words, the Thrill is gone.

Norah Sis is returning to Omaha to play for the Supernovas! Her teammate last year at Creighton, Elise Goetzinger, was also signed today. No word yet on whether Kendra Wait will again be part of the team.
