Ironman Omaha

Looks like Omaha is hosting its first official Ironman the next 3 years. It is their 70.3 version so half a full Ironman. Swim starting at Lake Cunningham, biking from there west to basically the Platte then turning around and going all the way to the Missouri River, then running down around the river with the finish line by Miller’s Landing. Looks like the only official Ironman event between Rockford, IL, Denver and Dallas so probably get a number of people from the region. Expecting between 2500-3000 competitors apparently.

Yep, I saw that as well. Definitely a good get imo and replaces the Des Moines event for 2026.

Distances are 1.2mi swim, 56mi bike ride, and 13.1mi run (half marathon). Hopefully there will be a lot of community support andt changes opinions of Omaha (for the better) of some of the folks in the triathlon subreddit as it wasn't necessarily warmly received.
