Because they opted for the Sell-UR-Car channel, 233.

I saw this at work today. however its only a 16 team bracket so (not to be negetive) its kind of like a 1 seed playing a 16 seed.

Not exactly...UNO was the last "at large" quantifier, so they aren't a Monmouth or Hampton. And Boston U. is the lowest seeded top seed...

Think of this one like Kansas vs. Bradley...

UNO and BC had at least 3 common opponents... and the results compared favorably. I'd say this will be a very good game.

UNO is getting some love on the news tonight, a lot more air time than usual. I wish they would have went to the Grand Forks ND regional, some of my friends and I might have gone.

No surprise that Potulny surged after his showing last Friday night. 4 goals including the game-tying goal with about 10 seconds left in regulation of a conference semi-final game should get you some votes.

Hopefully, Parse will have some heroics this weekend and get the Mavs to Milwaukee!

Potulny, as the top goal scorer and point getter in all of college hockey, has overtaken Parse in the "fan vote". I think Potulny will win the Hobey, and Parse will finish 3rd behind Carle. Hopefully Potulny will be able to bring the Golden Gophers a national championship as his brother Grant was able to do back in 2002.

I don't think they'll allow smoking at the alumni center. But I'm planning on Indigo Joes Friday. Not sure where I'll be Saturday night for the regional final, as I'm supposed to attend a birthday party.

UNO got worked over by Boston University today 9-2, BU set the record for the most goals scored in an NCAA tournament game. UNO definitely has some seasoning to do before they make a return trip to the big stage.

NCAAsports.com is calling the Holy Cross win the biggest upset in the history of the NCAA hockey tournament. Gophers goalie Kellen Briggs was like a sieve as 4 of the 9 shots he faced were goals.

Was he in goal during the game in the WCHA final five where they gave up 8 or 9 goals?

He started that game vs. St Cloud State and gave up the first 5 goals until they finally spelled him. Then the other dude gave up 3 more. Don't know what happened to him as he was solid for the rest of the season.

Bill Thomas (UNO Hockey) signs with Coyotes

Post by Maverick »

http://www.hockeyfights.com/news/50279
GLENDALE, ARIZONA - Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Michael Barnett announced today that the Coyotes have signed college free agent forward Bill Thomas to an entry-level contract.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound right wing joins the Coyotes after two amazing seasons at the University of Nebraska-Omaha of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA). This season with Nebraska-Omaha, Thomas collected 27 goals, 23 assists and 50 points in 41 games and earned CCHA First Team All-Conference honors. He led the entire CCHA in goals scored, ranked 4th in points and finished tied for 13th in assists. Among all NCAA Division I players, Thomas ranked tied for 5th in goals and tied for 15th in points. He also led his team in goals and power play goals (8), and finished tied for 1st in game winning goals (3), 2nd in points and 3rd in assists.

There is some speculation that Thomas may jump straight to the NHL.

More confirmation from the Arizona Media that Thomas is going straight to the NHL from the Mavs... (no minor league hockey for BLT!)
Thomas is not expected to play in Tuesday's game against the Nashville Predators. It's likely he will be eased into the lineup over the final two-plus weeks of the season.

With only two weeks left they are giving him a taste of the NHL. More than likely we will see him next year with their San Antonio affiliate against the Knights.

#21 Bill Thomas makes his NHL debut with the Phoenix Coyotes, 4 days after his college hockey career ended. So far, 7 shifts, 1 penalty  (2 minutes for hooking)

Here are the three Hobey Baker finalists, no Parse or Potulny on the list.

Denver junior defenseman Matt Carle
Boston College senior forward Chris Collins
Wisconsin junior goaltender Brian Elliott

The award will be presented Friday, April 7, at Bradley Center in Milwaukee during the Frozen Four festivities.

Former Denver defensemen MATT CARLE won the 2006 Hobey Baker award yesterday. Carle, a former Lancer, has since signed with the San Jose Sharks and scored 2 goals in his first 3 NHL games (as a defensemen).

Thomas of UNO

Post by Greg S »

Got his first goal last night. Very pretty feed from Shane Doan. I did not realize it was an intentional pass from Doan until the 3rd replay. Thought it just bounced towards Thomas. UNO is getting a lot of talk during the Coyotes games. I'll always be diehard Wings fan but I kind of adopted the Coyotes when I went to a game there a couple years ago with a good friend that lives in the area. Unbelievably nice arena, the Coyote howl after goals, and a surpringsly great hockey atmosphere in the Southwest made them easy to root for.

UNO Hockey

Post by Greg S »

I called the ticket office today. The person that answered the phone says that season tickets are staying the same price as this year. UNO (like the Knights has done a lot of 2ers and ticket give aways this year), I can't believe they did not adjust their season ticket prices downward. Very disappointing.
