Keep in mind that the crown will go around 40 ft higher than the core.

Re: Mutual of Omaha Tower (14th & Farnam)
I'm going with that it "looks" barely taller than FNB. At around the same number of floors, the same height, I don't care if the crown makes it look a little taller. I would bet 677 would be with the crown. Either way its splitting hairs. I really, really wish they made an effort for it to look and be apparent. If they were gonna get that close to 700, why not just do it for the heck of it?EricHaley wrote: Sun Oct 19, 2025 9:26 pmI’m starting to wonder if the 677 feet was based roof height rather than crown height.skinzfan23 wrote: Sun Oct 19, 2025 9:20 amI was thinking that it will go a little bit higher than what it currently is too.EricHaley wrote: Sun Oct 19, 2025 3:29 am

IMO, it looks a little proportionally short, especially given a third of it is parking garage. Not complaining by any stretch, I just feel they didn't quite clean their plate. Its like if you go to do the 72oz steak challenge and can't choke down the final bite. Ever so close, but not quite. I still like it as an addition to our skyline.

The building they promised us is at or near the same height as the FNBT. Kinda silly they got the green light if it was not going to be apparently bigger. Maybe another company will come in and demolish the State Govt Office and build a bigger tower.

Re: Mutual of Omaha Tower (14th & Farnam)
They own the land and built the building that works for them at a height commensurate with its location within the CBD. If you're looking for nice round numbers, then consider the building is Omaha's first 200m+ tower.
What a weird sense of entitlement about 23ft. What's even weirder is that if the building were 23ft taller at 700ft it STILL wouldn't look significantly taller than FNBO but that would still somehow satisfy many on this board. MoO doesn't owe us sh1t.
I hope Megasaver comes in and builds a 4 over 1 data center on the state office building site. You'd all deserve it.

If some of the newbies go back and search the thread I believe the actual Mutual height difference with elevation was calculated to be something around 7 ft. If you ask me even without the crown, Mutual is already noticeably taller from a number of angles.
Here’s another more grateful perspective.
In the last 25 years this is the only major downtown project(high-rise/skyscraper/headquarters, hotel, etc) that wasn’t scaled back or eliminated all together.
Union Pacific Center - originally 25 stories to 19
One First National Center - originally 50 stories to 45
Wallstreet Tower - 32 stories to project never built
Marriott Convention Center Hotel - 28 stories to the current low-rider Hilton.
HDR- 16 stories to 10 at Aksarben

Well, I'd have to say that's even more "weird" than wishing the tower was a little taller.almighty_tuna wrote: Mon Oct 20, 2025 8:34 am I hope Megasaver comes in and builds a 4 over 1 data center on the state office building site. You'd all deserve it.
I'm not necessarily number chasing, I just wish you could tell its taller. As it will be, you have to really squint at it. Does it really matter? Well, no, of course not. Am I ungrateful for wishing you could easily differentiate it? I dont believe I am. And they were not at all obligated to do anything other than what they have.
I just have a personal wish that, since, on average, we've gone 25 years between skyline shaping towers, that they would have made it clearly taller. As it is, its just taller by the number. I wish it was visually taller. Honestly since its barely taller than FNBO, part of me wonders if they truly didn't even want it to be taller purely for their uses, but they were so close, they said "might as well". Much the same ideation that I have with going to 700. "Might as well".
Now If I really got what I was looking for, Id say ~ 750 would have accomplished that. It is what it is. I'm still glad we're getting what we're getting.

Just to be certain the ol horse is beaten to death, I think the only truly fair angles to gauge it from are the Ballpark and the 24th street bridge over the railroad tracks.nebport5 wrote: Mon Oct 20, 2025 11:25 am Mutual is already noticeably taller from a number of angles.
Of course it looks taller coming into Downtown from the east and from the south on 10th, 13th, 16th. Their location is good for the perception.
Just to be sure I'm not ungrateful, I do still appreciate what were getting as it is.

And honestly the way MOO was designed it not only adds height, but also density and ties the whole skyline in together looking more cohesive vs. just two tall building sticking out amongst the rest.guy4omaha wrote: Mon Oct 20, 2025 12:43 pm I am glad MOO

Re: Mutual of Omaha Tower (14th & Farnam)
I get what you guys are saying. But I'm coming from the viewpoint thereof that its not like we have a cr@p ton of developable lots left in that immediate Downtown core. The Mutual tower being a few blocks away poking up like that on an island, basically said "there, now fill it in". So I'd much rather optimize what few opportunities there are. I really don't care that 1416 Dodge has been a grass lot for 20 years, its a prime spot that should have a fittingly tall building on it, and Id rather wait for the right one to come in, rather than just some relatively insignificant 400 foot building. I feel the same about the State office. And I really don’t like how theres a height limit on the lot to the east. Thats basically loosely stating that the Mutual tower may be the end all-be all. I dont know why we wouldnt want to strive to have a skyline like Minneapolis just because one building would be taller than another for a while.nebport5 wrote: Mon Oct 20, 2025 12:53 pmAnd honestly the way MOO was designed it not only adds height, but also density and ties the whole skyline in together looking more cohesive vs. just two tall building sticking out amongst the rest.guy4omaha wrote: Mon Oct 20, 2025 12:43 pm I am glad MOO

If you look at it another way, if some other corporation decides they want the tallest building in the city, they only have to eclipse 677' and we'll get another tower out of it.

I’m not complaining about the height, I’d be happy with 677’. As others have mentioned, it already looks taller from several angles without the crown, so it’s confusing as we’ve been told the crown will extend up beyond the 44th floor “quite a bit”. Also, many buildings lately seem to be measured by roof height, not overall height.NEDodger wrote: Mon Oct 20, 2025 11:05 amThis. Skyscraperpage gives you the height at the roof, spire, and antenna. The last 2 only of the building has those features obviously. I’m fairly certain the 677 includes the crown.EricHaley wrote: Mon Oct 20, 2025 10:31 pmI’m not complaining about the height, I’d be happy with 677’. But with an antenna that will make the overall height variable and dependent on the strength and direction of the wind. With that in play, I am guessing we will need a scoreboard-like device to indicate in real time, to keep track of the height, to satisfy some individuals.BRoss wrote: Mon Oct 20, 2025 7:53 pm BREAKING: Mutual has heard your complaints and will be adding an antenna to increase the height. I’m thinking the answer maybe be in one of your earlier posts here. Particularly, notice the of the top of the core to the top of the crown. “Quite a bit”…is relative. I think some of us were expecting the crown to start after the core, yet in that first model pic, it would have to start well before compared to the renderings.

Doesn't help with any exact heights, but they did say Mutual's top floor is modeled after Northwestern Mutual's new tower's top floor in Milwaukee. If you call the people in the photo of that floor complete at 6 foot you have some pretty nice height for that top floor.

Going off of those lines, the crown should be the same height as the amenities level plus two floors or 50-60 ft. They’re saying the tower is currently the tallest building in Omaha and most surrounding states, so that would mean it’s taller than FNBO tower and the crown hasn’t even been added yet.Linkin5 wrote: Tue Oct 21, 2025 4:52 pm Yeah I have no idea how much height the crown will add, but here is a model MoO had in their planning docs.

Why doesn't floor 41 have a light line drawn thru it like all of the other floors? Is floor 40 a high mechanical/HVAC area instead? The line(floor) wasn't just forgotten.

Floor 40 is a normal height floor (15 feet). Floor 44 is a double-height floor (30 feet). Floor 16, the amenities floor isn’t quite double height, but it’s taller than the standard floors.

I googled worlds tallest parking garages and this one would be on a top list. It was a bit hard gathering the data as there are different types of parking garages, but this one would probably make top 50 in the world. The cladding around the garage looks nice though.

As far as 24th and Farnam, I’m usually downtown in the morning and that’s why my photos are usually from the east. Last time I was downtown in the afternoon I posted that photo from the Civic site.

Well if I wasn't handicapped I could put some but by no means all to shame....if that's the word you like. Now that we've neared the actual top of the core and steel is rising fast the picture taking has gone almost bye bye. When this thing started there were pictures galore. Oh look we went up another floor...."pic" another floor...."Pic". Just look at all the glass going up floor by floor. But when we near being topped out no more pics period that show at a distance MOO's relative height to the FNBOT! If that's complaining some haven't been around the proverbial "block" much in life!

I just caught KETV weather and they had a shot of Downtown from the livestock exchange building at 30th & L. Thats also probably one of the fairest views, and the buildings are basically the same height. So if you watch KETV weather, you stand an alright chance of catching that angle for about 5 seconds. Of course anybody taking a photo will go for the glory shot. If I spent any time Downtown and had anything but my phone camera, I'd sure take em from the other perspectives.mikey cee wrote: Wed Oct 22, 2025 11:30 am How about some photos from 24th and Farnam and Harney streets. I also just wanted to say I didn't see your post as a "complaint", as others are calling it. I saw it as a request. Guess it depends on the audience.

He’s literally calling the photos people are posting freely for others an expletive. And then wanting these same people to take time out of their day, for free, to take pictures at angles he wants.Busguy2010 wrote: Thu Oct 23, 2025 10:45 pmI also just wanted to say I didn't see your post as a "complaint", as others are calling it. I’m all over the metro on a daily basis. If anyone needs pics of something, let me know and I’ll add it to the list.

Probably from the flyover ramp from NB Kennedy FWY to WB I-80 is a good view. I've been on it plenty while its been shorter, but its a short glance, I rarely take my phone with me while I'm out, and it doesn't sound safe. But if anybodys up to it lol. Its a good high ground view from that perspective that for all intents and purposes, both buildings are the same distance away.

I didn't mean to infer or say that any individual's pics were inferior or not good in any way. Only that there were too many GLM shots and others on Abbott Drive etc. Would appreciate west bound shots from the Broadway viaduct, I 29 along the Missouri, Dodge St around 36th. Think of those poor employees at FNB. They are probably 'sick and tired" of those GLM shots that are so misleading. I know that that's life but go easy on the poor souls. As for the Woodmen the Harney at 24th St. can't be topped. What a view that is. These are suggestions not orders folks.
