They have been holding out for years waiting to see what UNMC and Omaha were going to do with the location of SaddleCreek Road.

Associated Bank of Green Bay, Wis., will acquire Omaha-based American National Bank in an all-stock deal valued at $604 million. American National shareholders will receive 36.25 shares of Associated Bank stock for every one share of American National they own. The deal is expected to close in the second quarter of 2026. American National currently has $5.3 billion in assets and 33 branches in Nebraska, Iowa and Minnesota. After the merger, Associated Bank will have $50 billion in assets and 217 branches in five states.

When banks get bought like this, do they usually change all the routing and acct numbers? I think some do, but I hope not b/c I don't want to have to switch all my bill pays.

Not necessarily. Wells Fargo kept Wachovia's ABA number for some time after the acquisition. US Bank has/had dozens of ABAs.

Having worked through the Bank of the West / BMO merger, the routing numbers will be absorbed by the aquiring institution (the FED and SWIFT networks will just redirect on the back end). There is too much of an impact if they discontinuing the routing numbers. BMO still has some M&I bank numbers from over 10 years ago. I think it is custom across the industry to keep the ABA's active......but they could EVENTUALLY be phased out. Account numbers are known to change to align with their numbering scheme. Also, if your ANB account number is also on the books for a customer at Associated Bank, your account number will change.

They might keep it for at least a few years....they'd want to see how it is operated and since everything is about the dollar, see if makes sense operationally to keep it going.

Since ANB is local to Omaha, they may find it the benefit to keep it going.

The tree is part of the Salvation Army tree of lights campaign. If its not the exact same tree, a very similar tree was used at the crossroads when the tree of lights campaign would place their three there. For many years they used a real tree before this Bright Ideas trees came along. They only used a tree like this at crossroads for a few years before it was moved to 90th and Dodge. I doubt another bank is going to come along and kick them out over a few dollars in electricity every year. Just my assumption here, but I would assume Bright Ideas maintains and installs the tree, American National gives them a place to put the tree and powers the tree, and Salvation Army reaps all the rewards.

American National wasn't even mentioned in this post about taking down the tree. That said, it does clear up what I was guessing in the previous post.
