The WOWT Children's Hospital Camera has a great view of downtown; the new tower really does add a lot of mass to the skyline.
I wish I could get up there. The difference from the top of the tower and the top of 90th & Dodge is way larger than I thought. Here is 90th & Dodge for reference. I really didn't think it would be that much different. If you have access to the Children's roof, get in touch

Honestly, never noticed that; from this angle, if it was west of the other two, looks like the only "available lot" would be the NW corner of 20th and Douglas. Can you imagine if the new Mutual tower was built on that plot? Would read like an 800' tower from the river haha. Not to mention there would be *nothing* around it, would look very much out of place from most other views..
There is something about getting a third very large skyscraper that makes the skyline feel like it has achieved a critical stage.
Possibly because we have an instinct for prime numbers? I dunno, but it feels like a milestone has been achieved and a new one has opened up.
Two is prime. But so is five, and now I'm shooting for that.

That said, I've noticed a pattern where I tend to feel a completeness with prime numbers. Could be an extension to me being a dunce
It is nice to see 3 skyscrapers downtown after years of just 2 and before that just the Woodmen. Our skyline is vastly improved from the 80’s and 90’s, when I personally felt it was a little subpar. Now it looks pretty darn good. Can’t wait for the Mutual tower to be finished.
Anyone with a better view then the bouncy sky camera know what they have been working on the past week or so? Seems like the crane has been working around the top of the core, but I can't tell from the camera what they are doing.
I really like the glass they chose for the new Mutual tower! It’s very multifaceted, depending on the time of day and the weather.

They look to be a bit behind schedule (this is according to my Mutual source). I seem to remember they had a “goal” of having the tower completely enclosed by January 1st (that was the hope at least)..
Any predictions as to when the exterior of the tower will be completely enclosed?..at this point, weather permitting, I’d say by mid March (about 2 months from now)..
The whole project seems slow TBH. Has it really been three years?.... Four years since the announcement? That's crazy.
Having lived in NY, SF, and now parts of East Asia, I'm used to seeing buildings 800+ FT go up in a matter of 18-20 months... and multiple projects at once. This project is like the Honolulu Rail - a never ending work in progress; and it's really just a 30 story building with a huge garage. Kaka'ako in Honolulu has 6-10 400 ft. towers going up right now and they are completing about 1-2 every rolling 14 months it seems. While 200 ft. shorter, we're talking 10x the number of buildings, many by the same developer, on an island, in the middle of nowhere. Literally, the hardest place in the world to get supplies and they can build faster than the center of the USA.
My wife and I were in Omaha for the holiday to visit family - annual visit - and the first thing she said was "Did they stop working on that building? it doesn't look like anything has been done since we were here last year".
Somebody mentioned it earlier and got flack, but ~4 years to build something < 700ft is Tortoise level slow. Lanoha and whomever is building the new airport are competing I think. Who can drag their project out the longest, lol.
January 2022 - announced
January 2023 - finally start construction
January 2026 - still not even enclosed.
At this pace, I'll be dumbfounded if they are complete w/ the project by January 2027.
I was told by a contractor very early on the goal was 20 floors a year. Here is a photo from New Years Eve 2023, so just over 2 years ago. To me is seems like they are right on schedule according to that contractor. I have a feeling they are working on a lot of things at the top of the core and once that is done, the steel for the top will go up fast.

In all honesty, this is actually going up quite smoothly. Sure, it may seem like it's taking more time. However, unlike many projects in Lincoln, this is actually getting built. 515 Walnut Tower in Des Moines paused construction for two weeks due to financial difficulties. It's honestly a miracle that a building of this size can get built. First National Bank Tower, now the little brother of the Downtown Omaha skyline, took about the same amount of time. This is also a much larger building than First National Bank Tower.
It does seem to be going a little slow lately at the top. Like Brad said maybe they are working on some stuff we can’t see. Also not sure how much they can get done on extremely cold and/or windy days. We have some more extreme cold coming up this weekend.
I hadn't been downtown to explore and go on the 480 or abbot drive routes to get a view, in forever. I have been to events, but I've been in a bubble, away from all public life otherwise as the world burns for such a long time (2016 ish)....
That said, this building is hella imposing along with the others. It strikes hard and really makes the downtown seem like an emerging major core city.
I also did some exploration around the downtown areas, also around the new developments on the 204th, the far north and far south areas in sarpy county.
You can really see that the bones of a major city has been laid out, ready to get some real meat. It is similar to scope from what I saw and felt in Las Vegas from the early 2000s.
The energy is stronger than even just ten years ago. The electricity that I felt in Nevada (obviously outside of the tourist strip) is emerging here.

Exciting times for downtown Omaha and the entire metro. It looks like some more steel work has been recently completed on top of the tower. Noticed it on KMTV’s very good camera angle from the CB casino and other stations cam sites.

I am sure it would have added cost but wow would the garage look worlds better if all of the non glass cladding for those floors was the blue textured material that you highlighted in pictures 3 and 4 instead of that boring off white cladding.

Thanks for the great pictures Brad. You must have gotten inside CPP/The Duo or possibly a drone to get some of these shots. The west side of the garage is my least favorite part of the building. Luckily it’s not very noticeable since CPP/The Duo obstructs much of the view of it.

Are you trying to tell me that NY, SF and east asia have more experience at building tall towers? I find that hard to believe.
A quick search shows 520 Fifth Ave in NY started construction in 2022 and is looking to be completed in mid 2026. It looks like those slackers must be using the same construction company as Munual. Those slackers....
While 520 Fifth might be taller, it is about half the square footage as Mutual.
The Park on Keeaumoku began construction in August 2022 and completed in September of 2025 (37 months) and topped out at 400 feet (this is a pattern due to the height restrictions).
Sky Ala Moana construction began October 2019 and completed in October 2023 (48 months) and also topped out at 400 feet.
Alia at Kakaako construction began December 2023 and is expected to complete in late 2026 (~36 months) and will top out at 400 feet.
Ulana (Ward Village) construction began in October 2022 and completed in November 2025 (37 months) and topped out at 400 feet.
Couldn't find anything else of height in recent or under construction for Honolulu.
MoO is at 36 months of construction and 277 feet taller. I feel like its moving along as expected.
I can't unsee that view of the garage from the west. The building looks good from a distance because all you can see is the tower portion. Its a double decker birthday cake with a single candle stuck in the middle.
I like the tower portion better than FNBO, but I like FNBO better in that 1/3 of it isn't parking garage. Like I've said in the past, if there always was a possibility that they need more space, I wish even more now that the whole building would have been built for functional space, and on the lot east. And if they were going to build anything else, that it were on the current lot.
I like that we get a big building out of it, but I see so many easy ways it could have been done better.
Wow the cladding pattern is really striking on the center portion of the parking pedestal. I agree it would’ve been great to see a larger portion of the elevation covered with it, but I understand how much construction costs are out of control right now.
