The two old school Buchanan's Service Centers are still around and I believe were branded with Bucky's at on time, but they have been Buchanan's Service Center for a while now. One is at 50th and Dodge and the other at 80th and Dodge.

Its very tough, dry and kinda grainy. It also seemed to go stale rather quickly. I bought 4 bags last time I was there, all different flavors. I was unimpressed enough, it took me about 3 weeks to come close to finishing the Teriyaki before it acquired a dusty flavor to it. And that was even in the fridge, and Teriyaki is usually my favorite jerky flavor. I've been working on the bag of steakhouse flavor for, again, about a month, and its only about half gone.

I've just been uninspired to eat it, and beef jerky is a favorite snack. I'll finish a bag of Old Trapper in a couple days. So given the opportunity, I'll take Jack Links or Old Trapper every time. I'm generous to give Buc-ee's a 5 out of 10.

I have no experience with Buc-ee's except when my brother was in town, he asked me if I knew about it. Apparently, he visited a friend in Texas who took my brother to a local one. My brother thought it was great, haha! Anyway, I actually hope it happens. It would be the first on I-80, which is a big deal. I think it will suck up a ton of traffic especially people driving through on long trips. I mean for everyone north of I-80, this will be the closest one. I could see it being very popular considering its virality on the internet and social media.

'A lot of people are excited': Buc-ee's one step closer to breaking ground in Gretna

Buc-ee's has the green light to move forward in bringing their first Nebraska location to Gretna.

Gretna City Council approved Buc-ee's request to operate a travel center in the plot of land near HWY 31 and Platteview Road and the preliminary plat for the area during their meeting Tuesday.

"We are submitting our 90% on site construction documents to Buc-ees the end of this month," John Chamberlin, Kimley-Horn and Associates design consultant for Buc-ee's, said. "They will take about a month to give us any comments that they have back on that. We will address those comments, and then we should be submitting construction documents to the city for review and approval."

Other approvals are still needed before Buc-ee's can officially break ground in Gretna, but officials said they anticipate that to happen in the fall.

Don't claim to be an expert on the process at all, but it seems to me that this is now official and will happen. Sure, there are more approvals, but those to me are details and not overall approval of the project

GRETNA, Neb. —
Gretna will soon be home to the first-ever Buc-ee's in Nebraska and alongside I-80. After approval at the Gretna City Council meeting on Wednesday, Buc-ee's now has the incentives to start the build.

Gretna City Council approved the Good Life District Incentives for Buc-ee's, which allows the store to split sales tax with the state. In return, the store will invest in the Gretna community by redoing the intersection at Highway 31 and Platteview Road.

Bu-cee's real estate director Stan Beard said that the construction on the intersection will come first, and then they will break ground on the store.

Buc-ee's said they hope the groundbreaking ceremony will be sometime early next year.

I have seen that too, a couple of places, including some of the documents for the city council. Find it funny and very purpose-driven. I was going to go down the rabbit hole of seeing if I could find the names of the plat for other new locations, but have not yet

Looks like nationally Buc-ee's has been getting negative press for the lawsuit they filed against Beaver's Mini Mart in Beavercreek, Ohio

I get protecting your brand, but this is crazy. The place they have filed suit against over the name and logo doesn't even sell gas, and they state that it could confuse their customers. Love what I am reading about other local businesses changing their logo, at least temporarily, to include a beaver. Based on the town's name, it can make sense.

Vik Boparai has owned the mini mart for more than a decade, years before Buc-ee's first expanded out of Texas in 2018 and long before it opened its first Ohio store north of Dayton in April, according to The Enquirer. Way to lose the business of people in their expansion areas. I had like a 10% chance of going there, but i was going to at least check it out once. But now probably not. Theyre shooting themselves in the foot with these frivolous lawsuits.
