Looks like the glass at the top is a little different. Wonder if its for the sign?

I’m sure there are some utility items on the roof that need more time for installation.

The other 39 floors, they were swinging the glass in from the floor above and now they don’t have that option and it should take the 40th floor twice as long because there’s twice as much glass because it’s twice as tall. That said they’re just coming around on the east side now so 40 is about done and then it’s just a crown.

That's the same 90th and Dodge street shot I have shot many times, excepts its on the roof of the bank. Wish I could get up there with a real camera and get a nice photo instead of that blurry city cam shot.

I saw the full moon rise last night. Not that I have the ability to take a good photo, but I figured it would have been pretty sweet from 90th & Dodge or 72nd & Center, or at least to view it from that angle. It was a big moon.

Nice Brad! You revealed it's best look right there (and absent any cues to this misguided interpretation running rampant on social media).

I found a different vantage point going down Leavenworth from 52nd. I didnt expect to see it from there. Just the tip though. But still impressive that you can still see it from a less than advantageous viewpoint.

I'm afraid to be the first to say it. But the more I look at this behemoth it really does need a "Cherry" on the top! I can't put my finger on it but to me it's just too plane jayne for Omaha. FNBO already dropped the ball on that one with all of that lit up glass and they picked white! Go ahead and rip me a new one.

Ok. A short quiz.

Without saying what it is, how many here know why the First National Tower looks like it does. And again without saying, could you name the reasons, specifically?

Its a subtle looking tower for sure. Though i think it looks great like that. Going to a lot of other cities, most buildings are even more plain than this. Residential towers usually are the more crazy designed from what I've seen.

With as long as the tower crane has existed, a spire like 1 WTC on the MoO tower wouldn’t necessarily look out of place.

I thought the FAA said a red beacon is needed. Four nice bright ones on MOOT wouldn't look bad. But heck neither of them are either burned out or never turned on it seems with other buildings. At least dear God give me a two toned tan and brown brightly lit lion's head up there!! Would look great set off from the bluish glass! With computers and LED lighting that couldn't be to difficult. Give people something to remember a soaring downtown Omaha building when they leave. The Woodmen are trying anyways. People come to the CWS and remark wonder what that second tallest building is. Great marketing job FNBO.

Taken during my walk the other day. Having moved back to Omaha in December 2025 after being away since late 2019, I'm still trying to get used to a skyscraper being where the library once was.

the south side is complete, obviously, but weren't they going to have the mutual logo on both the north and south side? I wonder when they will start installation

I imagine signage will be in place before the start of CWS.

What are they putting up on top of the north side? Maybe something to do with the window washing system? Something to help install the signage?

Also wondering what happened to the supposed crown. The top glass looks indistinguishable from the rest of the curtain wall. Not saying it looks bad but kind of bland.

From renderings, the curtainwall and mullions of the upper portion/crown of the tower were never going to be different from the typical office curtainwall/mullions beyond the break for the Mutual of Omaha sign. The crown looks different mainly due to lighting... I assume there is a dead space between the glass on the top level, the HVAC/Utility level, and a blank framed wall behind it. Then a lighting system is included between the wall and the curtainwall to give it that illuminated box feel. Can't speak for the double height event space, not sure how they will accomplish that. It also appears from the rendering that the signage goes on top of the mullion system, so there is not a "blank canvas" for the signage to go onto.
Image
Obviously all design aspects are subject to change based on as-is site conditions, but typically your curtainwall system is set in stone from the get go. My guess is that we won't see the true tower's aesthetic until it is mostly occupied and has all standard lighting applications complete.

Too bad the departments in charge of the FAA compliance of keeping the safety beacons fully lit at night aren't held accountable. That is of course to say if there are any compliance issues to begin with. My head just spins with annectdotal nonsense to begin with anymore to the point that I don't know if I'm coming or going.
