Pizza Hut Buffet?

Post by obirah »

Any Pizza Hut buffets in the area, even if slightly north of Omaha? Thank you.

Depending on your definition of "slightly," I believe from what I see on Facebook, the following things that are around Oakland and West Point: the Pizza Hut in West Point has the buffet back. Not sure of the details on times, though

I was going to say Wahoo, but it looks like they remodeled and removed the buffet a couple years ago.

You may have seen that there are a number of Pizza Huts going "retro" across the country, with over 150 locations slated to make the change so far. Seen this in a few news stories. Lighting, tables, and drink cups, and sounds like some but not all with the buffet

I have not seen a complete list or seen any name in Nebraska. Here is a list of five in Iowa that are making the change.

Cherokee, Iowa: 1014 N 2nd Street
Estherville, Iowa: 2009 Murray Road
Sibley, Iowa: 525 2nd Avenue
Sioux Center, Iowa: 1989 S Main Street
Storm Lake, Iowa: 115 E Milwaukee Ave

From YUM brands

This does list the Ogallala NE location

This is awesome. I know a lot of people nostalgic for the old school Pizza Huts.

Though, I think some of their small town locations never modernized. lol I remember stopping in the Pizza Hut in Yates Center, Kansas, back in like 2012 and though it looked like it was right out of the 1980s.

Would like to see Omaha land at least one - the last one I knew of was near 50th & L.

I believe the developer who announced his plans mentioned putting Pac-Man machines inside as well. Wonder if they'd change up the menu. When I worked for the Pizza Hut on Saddle Creek back in '90-'91, I think they even had lasagna.

Now let’s see them bring back some retro recipes to go with that, like their original deep dish pizzas with the crunchy, buttery crust.

This dude visited a Pizza Hut Classic and posted the video a couple months ago. It's not 90's, but a modern retro concept if that makes sense. It's not like the place hasn't remodeled for almost thirty years:

Hope Omaha lands at least a couple of these sometime. However, since it's part of a franchisee buyout, I'd say it's unlikely (at least not in the near future). Sorry, won't drive to Ogalala for pan pizza and red checkered table cloths.

Unfortunately, Nebraska was not included on the list of Pizza Hut Classic locations.

You’re right. The list I saw linked to an article didn’t have NE. Good to know!

Those were very good. They had a special name. Something like Prianna maybe. It’s been a long time…

Generally, I would agree. However, I don't think PE could run Pizza Hut into the ground anymore than Pizza Hut has already run itself into the ground.

LongRange Capital is the private equity firm that bought Pizza Hut. They are the same firm that engineered the Arby’s turnaround. So maybe, just maybe this will turn out to be a good thing.

In general, a PE will destroy anything. That being said, doing a little looking at the PE that bought this, and they may be a bit of an outlier. They have been in existence since 2018 only. They do not seem to have a track record of destruction.

Good article. I find it notable that Pizza Hut in China is worth $1.2B, while Pizza Hut outside of China is worth $1.5B. Kind of crazy that a pizza place from Wichita, Kansas has about half its value in China.

I read somewhere that the early US brands that entered the Chinese market (Pizza Hut, KFC, McDonalds) got a really strong foothold where new/newer brands have struggled.

Considering where the bar is, it wouldn't take much to improve it. Problem is, just because it is better in the test kitchen, doesn't mean people are going to flock back. They have turned away many consumers.

So, Carroll, Iowa, is the closest. Convenient. :P
