From the Cryptic Rumor Dept- I have been informed that there will be “Mutual of Omaha” lettering as signage- which will adorn the Tower, but, unfortunately, not their Lion Logo.. Something about logistics etc.. But like all things, likely a cost related issue…

I’m pretty sure the lion emblem is going on the round spot high on the parking garage on the east side. At least that’s what I was told. Could be wrong.

After chasing the Big Boy across eastern Nebraska, I photographed it with the Mutual Tower and then grabbed some other shots of the tower. Check out the large scaffolding. I'm assuming that's for the sign and I am assuming the sign is up by the CWS. I can't imagine they want scaffolding up there any longer than necessary.

# 4. Needless to say, I would not ever want to have to work from that scaffolding! Looking forward to seeing the final signage though! Great pics as always.

I was under the impression that the lion head logo and company signage were all behind the glass curtain wall. Powerful bright LED's "punch" thru that bluish wall of glass so that it is visible 24 hours a day. It's somewhat similar to what the Devon Tower in Oklahoma City uses. The lion and name stay white but will be accompanied by colorful light play depending on the need or occasion.

I went to take a photo of the thunderheads behind the Mutual Tower, but I probably needed to be downtown for that. Instead of got a photo of a really small airplane above the tower crane.

So cool; both the First National Bank Tower and Woodmen Tower cast reflections on the facade. Amazing shot, Brad!

From Reddit:

The Mutual of Omaha sign is being created by Omaha Neon Sign Co and is going up next week.

Sure is. I have so many questions I would like to ask about all the different things I am seeing in that photo. I bet I have stared at it for 10 min, just so much going on in there.

Really low clouds tonight were the same heigh as the tower crane. They were flowing through the tower crane and then over the First National tower where the FNBO spotlights lit them up.

I think im going to like this better than just the lion. This'll be the largest presentation of the city's name. Make no mistake where you are. Unless I'm just completely clueless, its not too often a building this big houses a company that bears the home city's name.

Time for Omaha Steaks to build a mixed use HQ/residential/hotel tower that hits 50 stories.

LOL - The way they're acting, I wouldn't be surprised if they up and moved out of Omaha. They're about as far removed from being an Omaha-centric company now as can be considering their history. I'm still not happy with how they pulled the plug on all of their restaurant clients, especially right before St. Patrick's Day this year.

I blame it on the external hire CEO... they say it's family-owned and operated, but I'd argue it's certainly not the same as it was 5-10 years ago. They have their warehouse and old retail store off of 96th & L emptied out and up for sale, too. It's been that way for a few months now, at least.

A dangerous job hanging those letters. Hopefully it’s not too windy up there. This has to be one of the taller buildings in the Midwest with signage on it.

I bet that it'll have a tail at the bottom similar to the top part of the a
