I'm looking forward to this building's occupancy, which is not very far away now. Even though the streetcar project has a couple years yet to go, when the streets become flooded with underwriters during the lunch hour, it will be a massive boost for businesses around there, is my hope.

I'm eating lunch at Wilson & Washburn, a beautiful bar in an 1880s building with high ceilings, and I can see the gleaming Mutual tower outside the huge windows. I certainly want this and other businesses to survive and prosper.

Not long now!

That shot would look so much better if there were a couple high rises between FNBO and Mutual of Omaha. Hopefully that will happen sometime in the next decade.

Looks like 1416 Dodge and the old World Herald are the available lots to do that. I think its funny how far apart they look when laterally there's only one block in between them.

that's perfect framing for the skyline. Did you walk to the spot or luck out and have seats there? Either way, they had a bunch of really good shots of the skyline before/after commercial breaks, mutual really changed how big Omaha looks. fun fact: my middle kid said they polled players and asked them how big they thought Omaha was (population) and some said 15k-30k people. Mind blowing.

That'll be a really good view if we ever get a high rise around 20th-27th and Farnam.

Thanks. I don't have seats, I'm there working, photographing for the White and Blue Reivew. That is a spot anyone can get to. I even ran in to skinzfan23 one night when I went up there.

Here is a photo from about the same area from game 2 that night.

Great shot, I love when the buildings are perfectly framed with the scoreboard like that. Really helps to fill in that gap.

I love that they got the name up for the CWS. Smart move. Did they just prioritize that side, or are they only doing the name on the north, and not the south?

I’m thinking it’s just going to be on the northside, Just a hunch. And a lion head on the garage facing the GLM .

One of my riders was saying that this architect usually puts a sail on top of their buildings. I didn’t want to bust his bubble that there was not a sail in the rendering.

Nice pics Brad! . I noticed the flag is now off the 1970’s FNBO building wonder if a new flag will go on it at some point or they remove the pole altogether.

I'm curious if the cryptic rumor department has heard of any future announcements regarding the construction lay down area. This city block has been a construction prep area for so many years now. Will it simply be turned in to a green space (place holder) or has Mutual developed other plans for it's use?

As I recall, it'll be greenspace until a plan is developed. Mutual can develop a 300 ft building on the site, or another developer can build a 140 ft building.

Some people have said that they think Mutual actually ended up underbuilding the tower so may end up building something sooner rather than later, but that is more hearsay

i was thinking about that the other day when i was driving by; it has been such a long time since first national was built that i don't remember how the crane came down. At least it won't be too long and we'll see how this one does

It goes down the same way it goes up, one section at a time. What I don't understand is how they get the tie-off's out of the building. They said they use the crane to pull them out, but how? Those tie-offs are huge and they go all the way in to the core.

I was always under the impression that much of the tie-off remained with the building, and only the external collar came down for future use.

that's a good point, i didn't even think of that. In the pics from a while back, they look like they are feet across. You're right, that would seem to be a hard feat to accomplish

They told us the steel pipes and the yellow connection would be removed with the crane.
