Coach Hoiberg at this press conference earlier this week said they were working on upgrading their nonconference schedule. Looks this is the first sign of that. Just added a neutral site game in KC against Mizzou:

This is fantastic news. As I have said before, I love it when we play our old Big 12 and especially Big 8 opponents. I was planning on finally going to the game in Sioux Falls. I think this changes things. Now planning on headed to KC for this matchup.

I also like the fact that Nebraska is really developing a presence in KC. Sounds like the football team is opening the season there in 2027 with south stadium under construction.

My prediction is we also see the baseball team play KU at Kauffman in the next year or two. Dannen really seems to get the importance of games and exposure in KC and regionally.

Chicago would be another fun trip for a nonconference game. Looks like the arena they are playing in is close to downtown.

I would suspect a lot of $$$$ and no NIL to deal with.

Yeah I am sure Dallas threw some serious bucks. If he is headed to the NBA to run from NIL he went to the wrong place. Money is every bit a part of the NBA plus the players have a ton of power. Just think about how the players at times have colluded to form super teams.

The diff between NIL and the NBA is not the $$$ or the power, it is the contracts that are in place

Yeah I understand. Regardless there are still bigtime issues in the NBA. Players can force trades, the max contracts and request and get coaches fired. If a coach is leaving the NBA because of NIL I think he will face as many if not more headaches with the guaranteed NBA contracts.

Saw the Harbaugh May comparison last night online. One guy speculated if there were sanctions coming that pushed this along.

I heard them talking about this on 1620. They didn't think NIL was a factor like it's been with some longer termed coaches. Pointed out the fact that pre NIL he was barely above .500 in his 4 years, with NIL is when he thrived, including last year when he essentially built his entire roster on NIL. They also mentioned that this will help Creighton in their matchup against Michigan this year.

Looks like Sam Hoiberg is going to get a chance in the NBA

Has signed a free-agent contract with the Phoenix Suns and will play in summer league. He has exceeded every expectation since joining the Huskers as a freshman, so why not this, too?

https://arizonasports.com/nba/phoenix-s ... rg-to-sign
The Phoenix Suns agreed to terms with undrafted free agent Sam Hoiberg out of Nebraska, insider Jake Fischer from the Stein Line first reported after the NBA Draft on Wednesday.

Hoiberg, a 6-foot guard, shared the report on his Instagram story, and his agency, Priority Sports, later confirmed the move.

The Suns made one pick in the draft, trading up to No. 30 to select Arizona forward Koa Peat. They traded their No. 47 pick and did not move back into the second round

If he were a touch more consistent from 3, he could carve out a hustle role for himself like Jose Alvarado. He shoots well from 3, but at 6 feet tall, there won't be any uncontested shots for him in the NBA.

Former Nebraska and Bradley forward Rienk Mast has agreed to an Exhibit 10 contract with the Indiana Pacers. The 6-foot-10 Dutch big man signed the deal after the draft, securing an opportunity to compete for a roster spot during the upcoming Summer League and training camp.

Wow. I guess I won't be going this year. Sounds like I will have to go to KC for the Mizzou game.

I think it's safe to say, that as long as Sioux Falls wants to host this game, Nebraska will be their top pick to play in it.

Very cool news out of Lincoln today. Kind of following volleyball's lead, Nebraska will play their exhibition against Kansas State in Grand Island:

"Lincoln – The Husker men’s basketball team is coming to central Nebraska this fall, as Nebraska will take on Kansas State in Grand Island. The matchup between the Huskers and Wildcats, presented by Pinnacle Bank, takes place on Monday, Oct. 26 at the BigIron Events Center.

Ticket information, tipoff and broadcast info will be announced later this summer. Of note, the Grand Island game will not be included in 2026-27 Husker basketball season ticket packages."
