Salween Thai (1102 NW Radial Hwy)

No Website...

I really like this place... The food is great, but they have the typical "slow thai" service the other thai restaurants in the area suffer from...

1. Pad Thai

2. I can't remember what this was, but it was good!

Salween Thai will open a second location at 6553 Ames next month, at the place I could swear Lalibela Ethiopian restaurant was/had already moved to.

A little off-topic, but I was just exploring Google Maps and I realized this building looks like it might have used to be one of the main-stream grocery stores. Actually a pretty big building. Anybody have any info on what this building was originally built for, or has been prior to now?]

Actually looks very similar to the old bowling alley on Hamilton like a block away.

That was the King Louie Rose Bowl. Its hey days were in the 50s and 60s. They were open until the mid 80s but business was not good the last 15 years due to the neighborhood having went down the tubes. They had a weekly bowling TV show on Saturday nights at 6:30 for years that was called Strike it Lucky at the Rose Bowl. I bowled and partied there many a time. Got my stereo and equalizer stole out of my 1972 Gran Torino there on a cold snowy night in 1979!

Cool, I thought it could have been a bowling alley as well. Were those two in operation at the same time? Kinda funny to have two bowling alleys next door to each other. Now the bowling alleys are pretty sparsely located.

Yep. When I do take out at Salween Thai, it’s always been 74th and Pacific or Greyhawk...

Did Salween Thai get a divorce? Some location are on one website and other locations are on another website.

Google Maps shows the Ames Ave location as closed and the Reddick Cir location is now Tasty Thai. So, perhaps the three on the Salween Thai website are the only three left.

As far as I know, there is still one on 74th and Pacific, that has its own website. salweenthaifood.com as opposed to salweenthai.org

I’ll double check next time I drive by.

We got take out from there last night, that's where my question came from. The first website I went to did not list 74th and Pacific and I thought the other website was missing a different location.

That said, I popped in around 6pm and there were Zero customers tables and mine was the only To Go order on the counter. I know the tables are nowhere near full, but usually there is at least a few and there are always more to go orders on the counter.

So, it shakes out like this:

Salween Thai on NW Radial Hwy: salweenthai.com and salweenthai.org
Salween Thai on Eagle Run Dr: salweenthai.com and salweenthai.org
Salween Thai on Pacific St: salweenthai.com and salweenthaifood.com

Weird.

At the salweenthai.com site they list all three, but you can only order out from Pacific. My wife said a coworker who had worked there told her each one was run by a separate member of the family.
