So with the 2024 Offutt Defenders of Freedom Air Show they announced the air show and Thunderbirds a year in advanced. However with the 2026 Offutt Defenders of Freedom Air Show year they are announcing only 6 months in advance and with no headliner. They are calling yesterday's announcement a "Save the Date" and plan on announcing more details over the next 6 months.

I'm sure it will still attract a big audience, but it seems a bit "last minute". And from what I read on FB, Thunderbirds and Blue Angels are fully booked for that same weekend for other events. Unless they have a stealth bomber parked on the ground to checkout, I think I'll skip it this year.

The air show social media page is saying the Air Show is Posponed due to weather. But it seams like may be it’s just a weather delay and they are using the word “Postponed” instead of “Weather Delay”? Anyone have any clarification?

They initially said they were going to postpone until 4pm, but sent out a text around 2:30 that said it was canceled, as nebport5 said. Really a bummer since we had a great spot right up at the second row of chairs. Though, they towed the F-35s right along next to our car as we were leaving. It was a nice close up view and cool of the AF crew to wave from the cockpit.

For normal AFB operations, they vacate the flightline if there is lightening within 5 miles. So, a thunderstorm on Air Show day is definitely going to be sending everyone back to their cars. It's a bummer it canceled the rest of the day.

I think this was the first year since 9/11 they allowed everyone to park on base (excluding VIP seating which I think always got on-base parking). Parking on base for the air show was very common in the 80s/90s.

I don't know about everyone, but I do remember parking on base with my boys 10 or 15 years ago for an air show. I also remember most of those back then parking at Southroads.

At one point they had had parking at Southroads Mall, Bellevue East High School, Bellevue University, and Bellevue West High School. 4 park-n-ride locations seemed excessive. Getting on base was always easy. It was the forever line to leave the base in the afternoon that sucked. I've not been to the air show in Lincoln, so I don't know how they handle parking.

Lincoln has you park in all the grass fields on the west side of the airport.

Last year was the first year that no one was allowed to park on base from the public.

The last time I took my family we parked at Southroads and it was horrific - getting from the mall to Offutt wasn't terrible, but trying to catch a school bus to go back to our car was awful. It took over 2 hours to leave the base (just waiting for the bus) and as it was of course late summer, it was about 95°-100° outside. School buses do not have air conditioning and we were in stop and go traffic for about 45 minutes once we finally left the base.
