Re: Mutual of Omaha Tower (14th & Farnam)
This video I just discovered this morning answers my questions about how the white rail will offer protection to a rather wide platform around the top perimeter. What a great video to help give you a new perspective on the upper "crown" area level heights etc. Enjoy

Here is another video. Our skyline isn't really all that bad from some perspectives. These videos are really great. Great shots of the Mutual Tower and all. Mike

Yesterday, I saw the crane at half height, it's coming down.

I might be deeply ungrateful, but can we get another skyscraper, please?

Part of the tower is lit up tonight. Only about halfway up.

You can see the lights on the kmtv weather cam. This is going to look very cool once the entire exterior lines of the building are lit.

If the entire exterior lines are lit in bright LEDs plus the top I'm afraid it's going to be tacky overkill.ItsAllAboutMe wrote: Wed Aug 05, 2026 6:53 amYou can see the lights on the kmtv weather cam. This is going to look very cool once the entire exterior lines of the building are lit.

Kinda reminds me of the building in Dallas, without the green light, I feel like Mutual looks a lot better:

That looks more understated from the South angle I saw last night(which was very bright). I was imagining being an office worker and feeling like being stuck in a bug light. I have faith they will get it right but I'm not a fan of the Bank of America Tower in Dallas, which while iconic to their skyline, feels very dated. Maybe they will be able to do some fun schemes for holidays and etc.Brad wrote: Wed Aug 05, 2026 9:59 am The1wags text me this early this morning. Doesn’t look tacky at all.

Only place I could see them was the Council Bluffs earthcam. Could have been on the Harrah's camera too. Those weather cams seem to be pointed everywhere but the core downtown about 99% of the time.

Is this building really occupied? I thought this was one of the unused skyscrapers that they have.skinzfan23 wrote: Wed Aug 05, 2026 10:03 am Kinda reminds me of the building in Dallas, without the green light, I feel like Mutual looks a lot better:

Thats one of my favorite views because it shows the spacing correctly, and the tower looks way bigger than First Natty just being a block closer.

I’m really surprised that Mutual didn’t grace the east side of their new tower with a prominent logo at the top. The free advertising that image would bring the company with all the thousands of photos taken looking down the mall would be worth an enormous amount of money.

Re: Mutual of Omaha Tower (14th & Farnam)
Yeah. The renderings had the lion logo, and it would've been very iconic in the skyline, as is Woodman's signage. I go back and fourth; sometimes I prefer the side with the logo, and find the plain sides bare, while at other times I find the logo-less sides to be very sleek and modern.nativeomahan wrote: Sat Aug 08, 2026 4:17 pm I’m really surprised that Mutual didn’t grace the east side of their new tower with a prominent logo at the top. I like they left one side without signage. I think Mutual really wanted the sign to be seen from people coming into town from the airport and the baseball stadium.

Re: Mutual of Omaha Tower (14th & Farnam)
I was originally hoping they would put the signage on the mall side but the more I look at it I am starting to think that maybe it's for the best that they didn't. I also believe Cowboy might have mentioned something about financial reasons for only putting the name only one side. I've come to the conclusion that is was probably ultimately best to put it on the north side if that was case. I am guessing most of the people in the parks are locals at any given time while that stretch on Abbot is reaching probably a lot more out towners overall. Plus, idk....that sign is going to be up there for a long time. It may also be just kind of nice not to have to look at a 40 story bill board in the most ubiquitous photo shot of Omaha for the next 100 years. Once the lighting is fully completed to reveal the lantern look I think it's going to be really beautiful. The sign would only detract.

Those photos are some of the last with the arm on the crane. As of today that is gone.

I said on Grow Omaha a couple weeks ago that it would come down while I was on Vacation. At least I got to see the first few days of it coming down.iamjacobm wrote: Sun Aug 09, 2026 8:01 pm Those photos are some of the last with the arm on the crane. As of today that is gone.
