On Tuesday's City Council Agenda is the 2027 budget.
Page 140 of the draft states the plan is to renovate the existing fire station and include a new downtown police precinct. This wouldn't occur until after the completion of the public safety headquarters. The estimated cost is only 4 million, which sounds like not much of a renovation. New paint and signage?

The page before has information about the future gun range and that will cost $16M and $181M for the future public safety HQ!nebport5 wrote: Fri Aug 07, 2026 1:17 pm On Tuesday's City Council Agenda is the 2027 budget.

Yeah, how does a gun range cost 4 times the amount of a renovated and combined Police/Fire Station? Shouldn't that ratio be reversed!?ita wrote: Mon Aug 10, 2026 11:38 amThe page before has information about the future gun range and that will cost $16M and $181M for the future public safety HQ!nebport5 wrote: Fri Aug 07, 2026 1:17 pm On Tuesday's City Council Agenda is the 2027 budget.

This just sounds like a band aid to kick the can down the road. But if this doesn't happen for another 4-5 years this "solution" I can't imagine would keep up with growth.

That's an easy one to answer. Lots of caution and safety stickers everywhere a lawyer and a compliance officer can get one placed!

Freedom isn't free.
And very often isn't freedom, either.
