Buc-ee's Looking at Urbandale Iowa

Post by nebugeater »

IT looks like the process is just starting for a new Buc-ee's location near Des Moines in Urbandale. Near the intersection of I80 & I35

URBANDALE, Iowa —
Buc-ee's, the Texas-based convenience store and gas station chain, is planning its first Iowa location in Urbandale with a proposed 74,000-square-foot store near I-80/35.

The site, located at the corner of 100th Street and Northpark Drive, is currently a bean field. Former Des Moines Mayor Frank Cownie owns the 20-acre property and is selling it to Buc-ee's, which has requested a change to Urbandale's comprehensive plan to proceed with the project.
For the record  NEBUGEATER does not equal BUGEATER    !!!!!!!

That's a perfect spot. With the crossing obviously you get people in and around Des Moines, but catch traffic headed north on 35 to Minneapolis, south on 35 to KC, 80 east to Chicago, 80 west to Omaha/Denver, and all points in-between.

Honestly I was a little surprised Bucky's didn't land in CB over Gretna. You not only get I80 traffic east and west but could have also got I29 north and south.

If I had to throw out an uneducated opinion, I bet they probably would have gone somewhere in CB for that very reason if not for potential tax breaks within the Gretna Good Life district.

Yeah I agree that they were probably the key factor.
