Whatever iHeart is, they're definitely not a liberal-owned company. On 96.1FM they won't even let the word "s e x" be played on the radio.

Re: Omaha's Local Radio Stations (Non-Sports Stations)
It's not Omaha radio, but I had a flashback while listening to some music yesterday that brings back an FM radio memory
I heard the Little River Band's "Cool Change," which I had probably not heard for a long time.
IT flashed me back to sometime in the mid to late 90s when I lived in Cedar Rapids, IA.
There was a station, I believe KOKZ, that changed formats to Oldies. Based in Waterloo / Cedar Falls. They went off the air to normal programming for at least three weeks and played the Cool Change in a continuous loop for the three-plus weeks that they were not doing regular programming. It sure got the buzz they were after, with a lot of talk about this even in other media. I don't hear that song often, but that is a strange tie that pops up once in a while when I do hear it

Ankeny Husker Freak, I was trying to move your WOW 590 post to the correct thread and it seems to have disappeared.

Anyone else get tired of the annoying, never ending plugs for the iHeart talk back button? So stupid.

That, and the Yoder Amis Furniture commercials, are back with vengeance after being gone for a while. This is just beyond annoying and is the single reason I will never step foot in there. I know others who say the same thing.
I find myself steaming my SiriusXM subscription at my desk more and more. Never used to, but since KFAB is not live and local at 5 AM anymore, I switch over in the early AM and find myself not turning back
Listen to some talk. Some news and a mix of music on XM
Actually have SiriusXM Yacht Rock Radio streaming right now.

It allows them to record calls to play back later in the morning or, repeat later in the week. Like the KGOR 99.9 morning radio show, which I don't think one second of it is live.Brad wrote: Thu Jul 09, 2026 1:33 pm Anyone else get tired of the annoying, never ending plugs for the iHeart talk back button? I guarantee you its not. Its not local and bet they record the entire morning show in less than an hour and pump it out to dozens of iHeart stations.jag42 wrote: Thu Jul 09, 2026 5:07 pmIt allows them to record calls to play back later in the morning or, repeat later in the week. Just like The John Tesh Radio Show on KGOR at night. He probably records the entire weeks worth of shows in a single afternoon and then its pumped out to over 300 stations.

I don't know why it's taken me so long to discover Boomer Radio, I have fallen in love with the station. Too be locally owned & operated, it's a breath of fresh air amidst the layoffs at I Heart & Cumulus.

It looks like 106.9 switched to a country format from hip-hop yesterday

Usher Media Group has flipped Hip Hop “Power 106.9” KOPW Plattsmouth/Omaha NE to Country “Country One 106.9“.
The new brand is positioning as “Omaha’s Hit Country” and taking direct shots at iHeartMedia’s market leading “Kat 103.7” KXKT.
KXKT currently leads the Omaha market with a 8.9 share. The Hip Hop format on KOPW goes out with a fifth ranked 4.8 share in June down from a 5.6 in May. iHeart also operates Classic Country “93.3 The Wolf” KFFF in the market, which had a 3.3 share.
The flip follows Usher’s acquisition of NRG Media’s Omaha cluster earlier this year.
More details as they become avaialble…
