It is way past time that we put restrictions on these political ads that do nothing but attack the opposition. There are so many ads that attack Dan Osborn that,.... if you believe them, you would think Dan Osborn should be serving a long prison sentence. And I have NEVER heard her referred to as "Dark Money Denise" except in the attacking political ad. How about if the candidates tell us what their plan is to help make things better for everyone. Politicians are supposed to work for ALL of the people, not just a select few that can benefit them. I sincerely wish that people would take these attack ads into consideration when voting. When all you have to run on is fabricated attack ads, probably means that you are full of hate and prejudice.

Well I agree. I will say that I saw the ad being run on TV by War Horse Casino where they poke fun at all of the negative political ads, and have actor stand ins for Ricketts and Osborn, dressed like they do in their ads, joining together at a casino gaming table, sharing drinks. It’s funny as all heck.
It’s gotten to the point here in mid September where I can’t stand any more of the insulting negative ads being run by most of the candidates, and especially by the special interest groups. I’m pretty much avoiding local television channels entirely now, and listening to Spotify or watching YouTube videos. But even YouTube has ad slots for this junk!

My biggest gripe with so many of these ads is that they are just plain untruthful. They really love to take a quote and just strip it of all context and nuance.

Maybe I'm being unfair to my rural fellow Nebraskans, but I'd have to imagine that there's a segment our population to whom that is appealing. Agriculture makes up over 40% of our economic output and takes up over 90% of our land. I just don't think those people are posting on the eOmaha forums.

Like a huge chunk of my extended family in Nebraska grew up on farms. I don't know a single one of them that actually owned a horse, let alone used one for actual farming.

I mean I'm sure they exist but I also feel like ATVs of some mostly phased that out like 45 yrs ago.

Those news services are available without a premium subscription (although I’m thinking seriously about subscribing). BBC, DW, France 24, ABC (Australia), Al Jazeera, and others all have streaming 24hr commercial free service. It’s amazing what Americans are not exposed to when it comes to news events around the world.

Locally, the political ads in the DC metro political scene and the local candidates for national and statewide offices are more likely to showcase their support for family leave, semi-automatic gun bans, affordable healthcare, affordable housing, corruption in the administration, and efforts to end the Iran mess. What a difference geography makes. Ads that you see in Omaha wouldn’t fly here.

I actually watch all of the channels you listed: BBC, DW, France 24, ABC (Australia), Al Jazeera
YouTube Premium is not needed to watch these channels, but it is needed to avoid all ads. Instead of spending time watching ads (including local political ads) before videos and again in the middle of the videos, we can spend our entire time watching the videos we are interested in.

Fortunately, I haven't seen any of those ads that are shown in Omaha...

I'm not Trump's #1 fan, but all the Democrats ran on was "Trump sucks." Both sides need to find decent candidates to begin with. Voting for the lesser of two bad options is becoming a pattern.

I wish. They are so annoying. I'm not in to politics on either side and do everything I can to avoid political ads. The only live TV I watch is sports and those ads must be expensive because there seems to be less political ads during live sporting events. I noticed the other night there wasn't too many during the Chiefs game, but as soon as it was over, holy |expletive|, it was like they were making up for lost time. I usually hang with the post game for a little bit, but Monday I couldn't turn the TV off fast enough.

Omaha Cowboy was telling me about YouTube Premium the other day. Even if you don't stick with premium long term, a couple months would be worth the money for sure. I'm not in to politics on either side and the adds drive me nuts!

Last week I delivered a large photo order out to Grand Island and even in Central Nebraska the adds were different than Omaha. I constantly flip the dial to avoid the adds, but the very few I did hear out there were not the same as what I have heard here.

From what I can tell, they never publicly announced the "cause". I Googled that because I honestly couldn't remember if it was ever announced and it came back saying a possible allergic reaction to spray foam insulation he was using without a respirator. Maybe that's the 100% truth, however the pathologist's response I read said the investigation wasn't done properly. I'm sure it had nothing to do with being tied to someone in office.

Getting off topic here, but I wish Nebraska would move past the Ricketts/Pillen era of government. My last gripe is I love how Pillen likes to play up that he's supposedly lowered property taxes in Nebraska more than anyone. For who, farmers? How about those that live in the more populated parts of the state that are paying nearly $750-1000/month to live in a middle income home. He needs to get over himself.

I still have no clue why its an issue in state elections... The State of Nebraska doesn't even collect property taxes. Its a made up issue that the state has no control over. Below are two property tax valuations. Show me where the state collects any money... Most of it goes to the schools. Also, a quick google search shows Nebraska banned collecting property taxes by the state in 1966....
