I tried one of the new Steak Burritos at Taco Bell. Had the Melty Pepper Jack one. It was really good, and a lot of food for just $3 bucks.

I had one last week, and it wasn't bad for where it is from. Have you tried it?
Might need to try one of those new steak burritos from Taco Bell too. That sounds interesting…

When I tap the link on my tablet or phone it opens the item in the TB app. On a desktop web browser, you probably first have to pick your local store so it knows what to set the price at.Padre wrote: Tue Aug 11, 2026 7:32 pmWhen I clicked on the link, it saidChadJK wrote: Tue Aug 11, 2026 3:34 pm The Quesarito is back at Taco Bell. Sort of fast food. QT has what looks to be new, bone in chicken wings.
I'm not much for gas station food, but it did look intriguing. If anybody has had, or will try them please give your assessment. Id like to hear if theyre any good.

I had to run down to the peony Park Hy-Vee this evening around 5:30. I noticed that the Fazoli’s at 78th and Cass and the Burger King at 76 and Dodge, each only had one car in the parking lot. I know neither of those places are the “going out on Friday night“ type places, but still seemed odd to be that empty at dinner time.

Been to that Fazolis a couple of times for dinner, and it never seemed very busy. Maybe that area does a better lunch rush. Foodies is just down the street, and they close at 5 p.m.Brad wrote: Fri Aug 28, 2026 5:46 pm I had to run down to the peony Park Hy-Vee this evening around 5:30. I drove by there today, it’s definitely closed, all the Fazolis signs are gone. Some of the advertisement posters were still there, and people were still pulling into the parking lot looking for it.ChadJK wrote: Tue Sep 01, 2026 9:40 amIt's not showing up on Fazoli's website anymore:Padre wrote: Mon Aug 31, 2026 3:29 pm Or maybe not. I was trying to imagine what could replace it. It has a good size parking lot, and the building is a bit bigger than the average fast food place these days. It’s a bit off the Dodge corridor, but not by much.

Looks like the Little King location in Millard has closed. Lots of details on their post on Facebook, but it looks like the family that owns it is stepping away, and it is the family that originally brought Little King to the Omaha area

I heard on Dale Jr's podcast this evening that Arby's now has "Stake & Potato Bowls" Stake Nuggets over chopped potato cakes with herb butter and melted cheese.
They also now have "Horsey Ranch" too.

Burger Kings new chicken nuggets gets recommendation. They are crisp, juicy and flavorful on their own. They seem to be much like the old chicken nuggets from the 90's, except theyre more shaped like chicken nuggets than they were.
The sweet and sour sauce is nice. Theres much more to it than that of McDonalds. They actually gave me one of the old sweet and sour and it kinda sucked, and it was just like McDonald's. The new one is like sweet chili sauce with a little soy sauce. Im about it.
I have to say, that new CEO is doing a heckuva job. In my experience, Burger King has been much better in the last year or so.

They need to put their chicken parm (aka, Italian Chicken sandwich) on their menu as a regular item. Can't believe it didn't come back with this new chicken club or whatever they have out right now.Busguy2010 wrote: Wed Sep 09, 2026 3:26 pm Burger Kings new chicken nuggets gets recommendation. The Meximelt uses the 3-cheese blend (the mix of yellow and white cheese that the Mexican Pizza also has). The Cheesy Roll-up uses the standard yellow cheese. That, and perhaps the Meximelt gets a bit more cheese, but I'm not sure on that one.Greg S wrote: Wed Sep 09, 2026 12:24 pm Yeah I do that on the app. Something is just different though. It's close enough for me, but I also dunk mine in a pool of Fire sauce, so I kind of blow the flavor away anyway. lol

As was pointed out on the Council Bluffs thread, the Hollywood Casino will be getting the metro area’s first Steak Shack. Right now the closest ones are in suburban Kansas City.
I’ve never tried one, but their prices seem comparable to Freddys.

Agreed - wouldn't go to NEX for it, either. As for the "crummy" comment, I was simply stating it's crummy (or, aka, unfortunate) that the first to market location will be across the river and in a casino. I could see that perhaps being more meaningful for a high-end steak house, seafood place, etc, something more of a destination. Honestly, I've never had Shake Shack, but my first time won't be on a trip to CB into a casino to give it a whirl. I'll wait for a drive-thru.Brad wrote: Tue Sep 15, 2026 8:25 amTo be fair, I never said its crummy, but yes, I wont make a special trip to go there. I agree that Shake Shack is good and perhaps 20 years ago it would have been a much bigger deal, at least to me, to land one in Omaha. Although, if I recall correctly, it was a big deal to land one in Chicago when I was living there about 10 years ago. But at this point it seems a given Omaha would get one eventually.
Having a number of Shake Shacks locally in St. Louis, including one that's more or less walkable from my house, I really don't go there that often and find that there are other burger places I like just a bit more.

Omaha typically gets in on popular food/ restaurant trends about 5-10 years after they actually become popular. Or trends.

I don’t know if I fully agree with that statement. Especially in this scenario, I think Shake Shack is expanding into an untapped market because the markets they are in are beginning to underperform.nativeomahan wrote: Tue Sep 15, 2026 5:00 pm Omaha typically gets in on popular food/ restaurant trends about 5-10 years after they actually become popular.
