Previous mentioned in the Nebraska Crossing thread, but thought I'd give it its own. This new location opened to the public on January 23, 2025.

I didn't realize it, but at one time there were 60 or so Paradise Bakery & Cafés. Panera bought them and has converted most of them to Paneras. The Paradise Bakery & Cafe in Gretna is the last true location still owned by the founders, so far as I know.

We stopped in here for breakfast last Saturday. Everyone was friendly. Food was good.

I did think it was odd that they have a separate counter for breakfast. We walked up to the large counter and the lady asked us if we were ordering breakfast or lunch. We told her breakfast and then she had us meet her at the other counter. It just seemed silly and unnecessary. Especially when our food came from the same kitchen. So, I'm not sure what that accomplishes for them.

We'll probably be back. I used to hit up their Regency Court location periodically as I like their Chicken Walnut Salad sandwich.. They make really tasty soups and cookies too.

If you go to Paradise Bakery’s website and pull up the We’re Hiring page, they list two places you can apply for. One is the Gretna location, the other is 111 North 175th Street, which is Nebraska Medicine, Village Pointe.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but weren't they JUST across the street IN Village Pointe less than a year ago? I'm sure the rent is likely less at the medical property, but they at least had some mall foot traffic. My assumption is they plan on targeting the employees more than the public...

You are correct. They were at Villige Pointe and made it clear that they left because their lease was up and the cost was going up a LOT.

I do believe they have enough draw that they do not need mall traffic to be successful.

I had an eye appointment at Nebraska Medicine Village Pointe, so afterwards we stopped at the Paradise Bakery there.

It’s a small space, next to the elevators on the first floor of the building. It looked rather like the design of a Starbucks you sometimes see at Barns and Noble, though they do have a separate prep area. There are only two tables , most businesses seemed to be take away.

I didn’t see any outside signs directing you to it, and most customers seemed to be Med Center staff. Still, they were doing a steady business..

They are open from 7-3, Monday through Friday. They don’t have the hot breakfast items that Gretna does, but they have mostly everything else. The woman at the counter had worked in the Village Pointe location.

The food seemed the same, and was good. I’m not going to go out of my way to go again, but if I was in the area I might stop in.

At one point they had a similar kiosk/really small cafe at the courthouse. Not even that long ago...post covid.

But that doesn’t mean evenings at Paradise are going away.
Chef Marco has some awesome pop-up dinners and special events planned for after hours, giving us the chance to switch things up with different menus and experiences you wouldn’t normally find at Paradise. We’re excited to have some fun with it, and we’ll be sharing more details on our first pop-up soon!

We’re adjusting our hours at Nebraska Crossing and will now be closing at 6 PM.

I work until (at least) 5 and I commute. So, from my perspective, they're only open 2 days per week now.

I was surprised how much I liked our lunch we had out there one Saturday a couple of months ago. When they were located in VP, I never stopped in. If I remember, the pricing was somewhat inline with Panera. Not that I feel Panera's prices are great, but I'd rather go to Paradise than Panera is my point.

I've always liked what they offer, and I hear that from others too. I can understand that the evening is probably slower for them with what they offer, so the adjustment makes sense. The prices are in line with Panera, but I will say, in my opinion, the value exceeds Panera as they are today.
