Hanover Falls (NWC 156 & State Street) HyVee

Post by Mjs5050ss »

Wondering where this would be. There is construction happening on the northwest corner of 156th and State, but that is a much bigger lot. The only lots in the 1.8-acre area are on the southwest corner, and there has been no movement there.

There is a mixed use plan for this site too, nothing in the works yet.

Final plat of the mixed-use portion going in front of the planning board in April.

Interesting and specific outline for lot 3. 85k square feet would be a good-sized grocery store. Anyone hear anything?

Grow Omaha just mentioned that Hy-Vee has purchased 9 1/2 acres in this development.

I've always heard HyVee was trying to land a little closer to Bennington. This store would only be about 3 miles north of their current 156th and Maple store. I heard they were looking more like Rainwood Road.

Wonder if when they build, it will be another store on steroids like Gretna. Would love to hear the inside discussions on how the larger-than-normal store has been working. Seems busy to me all the time, but success is more than just being busy.

I think they are putting the mega-stores on hold. A friend of mine is a manager at one of the hy-vee's and said that was going to be the only one for a while. It's been a bit since they opened though, so that may have changed. I do love that Gretna hy-vee though.

Back 15 years ago (ouch) when I worked at Hy-Vee in high school they did say they sometimes hold onto land for a long time before building.

How close is the new Baker's going to be to the Hy Vee in Gretna? And will that Baker's be in Gretna?

The new Bakers' address is 5010 S 205th St. Not a Gretna address, but close to the dividing line.

Gretna Hy Vee is at 10855 191st St., Gretna

About 5 - 6 miles. Taking 370 to Hwy 6

The Bakers will impact Hy-Vee when they first open, but my guess is they have a loyal following both ways, and after a little time it will not be a big impact one way or the other.

The New Baker's out west is on Q Steet. I'm sure the 180th and Q Street HyVee will feel it way more, its only 2 miles away. The Gretna HyVee may only be 5-6 miles away, but it might as well be in Papillion on bad traffic days and that's only gonna get worse as that area grows.

I have probably posted it before, but during the years that my daughters worked at the 180th & Q Hyvee, for most months it was the largest-volume Hyvee store of any store at that time

Lot kind of seems odd for a Hyvee, doesnt seem big enough.

I feel ike it wont get built for awhile, even though Bennington needs a grocery store. Ive been told Hyvee owns the land at 204th and Maple. Id imagine they build there first.

Is 9 and 1/2 acres small for a Hy Vee store and parking?

The 180th & Q store is 8.5 and then the gas stations is about 1.0 acres, so it could work.

It just doesnt really seem like they can fit a traditional Hyvee and parking lot design with the land there. I suppose they could design it a little bit differently.

I counted over 300 parking spaces in the front lot, with about 50 more off to the side. If filled that would probably be more than 500 customers inside at a time. That’s a lot of people vying for the two live checkout clerks! 😂
