That being said, maybe they include and extra few feet. I cannot remember what the permits were for the Mutual Tower building & crane, but that should give us a definitive answer.

Searching region ACE (Central) for 2023, I found that there appear to have been two sets of permits filed for the Mutual Tower, though not the crane. The first set, filed 9/14/2023, lists the building height as the announced 677 ft. The second set, filed 11/13/2023, makes an addendum to say that a maintenance facility on top of the previously submitted permits will actually bring the height to 688 ft. So it looks like the Mutual tower may actually be a few feet taller than we expected!

I like the looks of it while one would be riding up Farnam on the streetcar, to have perhaps a shadow-producing tower hovering over the streetscape, and also provide a sort of bookend to the towers downtown that would be flanking the line at both ends, sort of.

Regents OK shared governance of Nebraska Medicine with Omaha Community Foundation
Fred Knapp / Nebraska Examiner wrote: The University of Nebraska Board of Regents gave the final go-ahead Tuesday to share governance of the Nebraska Medicine healthcare system with Omaha philanthropists and bring in money to expand facilities.
The new board governing Nebraska Medicine will include four regents and four members from the Omaha Community Foundation, which will contribute an initial $300 million, said Regent Chairman Paul Kenney. Neither the regents nor the foundation representatives have yet been named publicly.
The money will go toward a more than $2 billion development in Omaha called Project Health, which will replace the 70-year old Clarkson Hospital with a new, 14-story, 1.5 million-square-foot teaching hospital.

Original release said if would be 15 floors and 1.5 million square feet. So, we lose one floor but footage remains the same. Hopefully it tops 300 feet at least?

I hope you all realize that, however many floors the building will have, the first 4 or 5 levels will sit below the hill immediately to the south of the project site. I guess unless there are several uncounted levels of parking structure directly underneath the hospital.
One way or another it will be good to move this project off the drawing board.

Per the agenda for the upcoming Board of Regents meeting next week the project cost has increased to more than $2.7B from nearly $2.2B. It also looks like the next IDR will be in front of the board in December.

An update on some the road construction; 42nd street is set to reopen "by the end of December." They cited inclement weather for the delay. I'll believe its reopened when I actually see it lol.

The University of Nebraska Board of Regents approved a revised program statement that expands the scope and scale of Project Health during its meeting on Friday.
During the meeting, held at the UNK Regional Engagement Center on the campus of the University of Nebraska at Kearney, the board approved expanding final plans for Project Health, the future primary teaching hospital for the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Nebraska Medicine.
The revised program statement approved by the board expands the project to a 1.5 million-square-foot facility, up from the 1.25 million square feet originally envisioned. The additional space will accommodate greater patient volumes and anticipated growth in UNMC enrollment and allow for a greater number of beds, spaces for specialized care, and for the retirement of aging facilities, including Clarkson Tower.

I feel like they've been preparing the site forever. Are there any signs of a crane or building materials as of yet?
Also, I believe that rendering is old - the most recent renderings cut off the top, but apparently it's still expected to be nearly 400ftl
Image
Don't forget that this chopped off rendering will have another podium floor added to it. In the latest rendering I don't know if the architects were aware of the wanting of another podium floor. Seems to me that the elevator/heliport penthouse is taller from this angle too with water cooling towers and tons of other goodies neatly tucked out of sight. From these aerial renderings the scale of the penthouse easily looks 3 floors high when compared to the upper windows of the tower. This could definitely hit 400'.

Re: Nebraska Medicine
The history of the site goes back to when Hattie Munroe Pavilion and J.P. Lord Elementary School were on the site. Both were demolished in 2022 and remained a grassy lot until 2024. By 2026, ground preparation began. I hope we get vertical construction by December. We should, since they said that construction will begin by December, but they've been saying construction will begin soon since the project was announced in 2024.
