Target should have bought some of the land and made that store a Super Target.

I wondered about that posibility a while back earlier in this thread, here.

Apparently, they've moved away from the "Super" concept but I imagine they could still expand it.

In a more perfect world, they would make a deal with Woodbury/the city to build on their existing parking lot and make a two level store with underneath parking, temporarily utilize the existing garage to the north and eventually free up more land for Woodbury to redevelop.

Correct. They don’t do SuperTargets anymore, but do include many of the same elements of a SuperTarget in their larger format stores.

The larger Targets and some Super Targets do not have some large departments like most Super Walmarts. Just look at the auto, seasonal, and home improvement departments.

Another thing is that some departments that seems to be smaller than they use to be is the shoe department. Target seems to mainly have women's and kids' shoes. While men's shoes are very limited in the men's clothing department.

You could also say that the men's departments are very limited at most stores.

At least something is being built there... finally! Hopefully it ends up filling in nicely (in less than 10-15 years). It's still a prime location - I don't believe it should take a decade to build retail and hospitality in this location once it gets going.
