They are currently in a home and home contract with one ( maybe two) years left on it. The games alternate between Lincoln and Omaha. There is deffinantly talk that is brewing to make this a two game a year series with one on each court. Barry C was dead set against this but the new staff down in Lincoln has been very open to it. Not sure if they think this is the PC answer or if they really believe it. Guess we will find out when they hammer out a new contract.

I for one think this is the only way this should go. Two games a year for these two teams would be nothing but a good thing. Maybe if Doc gets things done in Lincoln they may even be goo d games.

Well, off to Lincoln in a bit ti see the game.

Tom Shatel today made it sound like the 2 times a year thing was likely. Both Dana and Doc are all for it. Doc wants to get a bigger Omaha fallowing, playing in Omaha every year would do that. Dana wants to get more big names on the schedual, having a Big XII team to play twice a year would do that. I see nothing wrong with it. It would be great for the state!

and of course...

Final 73-61 Nebraska wins

Well NU shot an unbelievable 67% percent from the field BUT it looks like Creighton has some early season shooting problems --- they only shot 37% from the field and only had one person in double figures -- Nate with 28 points. Meanwhile NU had 4 players in double figures

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=263220158

Next up George Mason who was beaten at home by Wichita today 72-66

I called CU up and told them to let NU win. CU will have a great year, most likely a lot better then NU. I hope.

Creighton just had a shooting problem last night. Aside from Funk, their shots weren't falling.
The shooting woes werent just last night - they shot just under 40% against Mississippi Valley. Luckily for them MVS shot worse.

When a team shoots 67% of the field, I don't care how good or bad your defense is (and Creighton's was bad, don't get me wrong), they sold their soul to Satan for the night. It'll be at least 2 years before Nebraska even sniffs a 67% field goal percentage again, and you won't see them shoot 77% in a half for at least another decade.

Frankly, it's more surprising that a team could shoot that well and still only lead by two with six minutes to go.

Nebraska going 3-of-4 on 35-footers with a hand in their face and one second on the shotclock says it all.

I thought Creighton played great defensively
"We just couldn't get any stops," Creighton coach Dana Altman said. "Our defense tonight was not good.

I think this was the Perfect time fro Creighton to loose and they will be better for it in the long run. This will bring them back to reality and it was a non confrence early season game. Use it as a benchmark and get better from here.

^ Very true!

Hey, remember when the CU fans said during baseball season (after losing to the Huskers) that they couldn't wait for basketball season!

I'm sure Creighton will be fine. Altman always uses these loses to his advantage in keeping his guys level-headed and keeping them aligned with his vision. Creighton should have a great year, probably even better than the Huskers. But, the Huskers were better the other night plain and simple. The should both have good seasons.

Wow, either you are a comedian or absolutely intent on showing your ignorance on the internet. I can tell you that I have been to CU-NU bball games at both Devaney and Qwest and it ain't even close if you know what the atmosphere at a college basketball game should be like. The BDSC was seriously rocking and I was pleasantly suprised to see Creighton fans actively involved in the game as spectators. They must have bussed the 2k fans that usually watch the game at the Qwest to Lincoln. I guess without the bar, networking must not be as productive. All the Creighton "fans" must have realized that and not bothered to come down to Lincoln. Seriously, other Missouri Valley conference fans aren't just joking when they call it the Quiet Center. Even Jimmy Motz and Creighton-homer Travis Justice said as much on TV last night.

Oh, and where is our junior Creighton booster that told is this summer that Creighton would win in a blowout? It seems he wisely abstained from this thread. Saturday night was a good reminder for him of why games are played on the hardwood and not on paper.

I love the Qwest. However, the BDSC is a NICE blue collar college arena. The Qwest is great for concerts, but sucks for basketball. It is WAY too big to be at all intimidating to an away team. The people who like the Qwest more are the yuppie crowd (which I like for many different events). Like I said though, when it comes to a college game, give me the good old blue collar arena.

It had been 9 years since Nebraska shot that well (Dec. 5, 1997 against UNC-Wilmington, to be exact). Congrats to them, they had a once in a decade night from the field.

Fact remains, if the two teams meet up again in Hawaii in a month, Creighton will be the favored team. I'd also put money on Creighton making the NCAA tournament before Nebraska.

The Qwest Center quiet? You're crazy. I went to probably 10 games last season and it was always rocking. I know I definantly do my part. The Qwest Center is way better for anything than the Devaney. I've been at the Qwest Center quite a few times and heard some Lincolnites gawking at the Qwest Center.

Wow are you trying to be a total jackass or what? Seriousely, what a classless thing to say that we don't have any true fans! We lost and played like |expletive|, that wasn't an open invite to complain about every aspect of our program. What the heck is your problem?

You also seem a little misinformed. Do you know that Nebraska gave over 4,000 tickets away to NU booster clubs to PREVENT creighton fans from buying all the tickets. Thats right, they gave tickets away to keep us out. I thought we weren't loyal? Creighton fans travel and in big numbers. Ever hear anything about how Creighton fans literally take over the Knap Center in Des Moines for the Drake game. Thats right, the place is a little 7,000 seat arena that for the CU game will be filled with 3-4,000 creighton fans. This for a game 2 hours away. But wait, I you skurs fans do that too right? Don't you normally take over the Allen field house and the Hilton Center for Nebrasketball? Don't give me the "we take over the Q" |expletive|, because that is not a road game for Nebraska. It is well within Husker territory, as a matter of fact, the game is in the most densely populated area of Husker fans in the country, OMAHA.

Guess what, we have over 12,000 season ticket holders. WE DO HAVE FANS. Don't give me that |expletive|. I happen to have not missed a Creighton basketball game for 10 years, and trust me, you doctor, dentist, and lawyer are the same way. We love our CU basketball, and the rest of the state is starting to discover why.

Now about the loss. What do you expect? When Nebraska is making 2 of every 3 shots while we are only making 1 of every 3 of course we are going to lose. The fact is Tolliver turned into a non factor thanks to early fouls. This created an inability to establish an inside presence, thus, all we could do was throw up jumpers, which we are not very good at aparently. In fact, we haven't been able to shoot well in any of our games so far, exhabition or regular season. The team has many problems to work out. I am confident that Dana will get this team together. There is too much tallent on this team not to.

I will say that I feel this game is a blessing in disguise for the Jays. The team needed a little reality check to realize that preseason polls mean nothing and that you have to earn respect. I actually think Creighton reacts to the underdog situation best. So maybe this will be a good thing?

George Mason at the Q on saturday. Hopefully there will be a great turn out. The team needs to win this one. These next couple weeks will be tough. GM sat, Arkansas PB on Wed (SI ranked them preseason top 75, much improved over last season), Xavier the fallowing sat at the Q, then at Dayton, followed by at Fresno State, then Hawaii for the Rainbow Invitational and hopefully a CU-NU rematch.

There is a lot of season left, lets see how it all plays out before we start bragging. I have a feeling this will end up like the CU-NU baseball series a couple years ago, Creighton won the regular season, but NU won when it counted and made it to the CWS. This time its the opposite, it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

We will just have to agree to disagree. I have AT many games (anywhere from the floor to the suites) and does not get as loud as the Devaney. The reason is because it is much bigger and has the open parts of the arena to dampen the sound. At the Devaney, you are right on top of the action. This is the same reason the Collisium is so much better than the Devaney for volleyball (you are even more on top of the action).

Don't get me wrong. I LOVE the Qwest and would not trade it for anything. That said, it is NOT as loud as the Devaney.

Now now..

Chill out a little here folks..

And for the record, having attended many basketball games at the Devaney and about 5 total at Qwest Center, the Qwest Center is a fine place to watch a basketball gane and gets PLENTY loud..

Lets just put all this BS to bed and move on..It's a LONG college basketball season..

The only thing good about watching a game at the Qwest center is the Bud Bar. As far as bball is concerned they really should name it the Quiet center! Dana and the Jays need to stick to the Mo. valley Conference...CU can't handle the big boys in the big 12.

Give me a break....Creighton is supposed to be valley's best team and they were slapped by a team that was picked to finish last in the big 12...No way a team from the valley could play day in day out in the big 12 and even finish in the top half of the conference.
Yes valley had a nice run last year but that is over.....Dana belongs in the Mo Valley he learned his lesson when he was at KSU!

Are you being serious? The Big XII sent Texas, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Kansas, Iowa State, & Oklahoma. So, one of the Big XII's worst years, they still send 50% of their teams. In the Missouri Valley's best year EVER they send 40% of their teams. I honestly don't see how you can even compare the two conferences.
