One of the Towns' owners told me that basically all the land west of the Towns project along I believe it is Pierce Street, up to 10th Street, is under contract to be redeveloped into townhouses/condos in about 1 or 2 years.

Little Italy Residents Eye New Condos

http://www.ketv.com/news/14171620/detail.html

The Bad:
OMAHA, Neb. -- Omaha's Little Italy is evolving to the discomfort of some longtime residents.

The area near Seventh and Pacific streets has homes built in the early 1900s next to brand-new condominium projects. It has been generations since a neighborhood near Sixth and Pierce streets has gone through this much change.

"I don't see much improvement," said Rob Dellutri Jr., a longtime Little Italy Resident.

Some don't like the look. Others are worried about rising property valuations
The Good: :D
"There are a lot of people that are angered by it," said resident Louise Vacanti. "They're scared of it."

Vacanti said she is welcoming the new style of living going up around her home after a half-century spent in Little Italy.

"For me, I just love it. I look out the window and see all the construction and this is something I've been hoping for for 20 years," she said.

She envisions a nicer neighborhood, after what she said has been years of decline.
Vacanti said that all the new faces who will be moving in will help the neighborhood get back its sense of community.

I just really hope the owners of these places slap some paint on them as soon as possible.

My guess is the HOA forbids it.

I believe he means the Home Owners Association. The covenants more than likely restrict painting the outside of the structures anything other than the white that is currently on them.

Well, if that's the case, how ridiculous!

Sorry Bluestone. I love you. But I would NEVER buy one of these.

I could be mistaken, but I believe they are building a few more on the block to the west of the current ones.

Is that another phase? For some reason I though it was just the two blocks. I could be wrong, I need to go back and research it.
