The Scanner is a very tool to have when out Railfanning. You know where the Trains are. They do at times give out there locations from time to time by Milepost locations. If you live at or near a Hot Box Detector then this is a good indication of a Train coming. There will be at times when Train crews don't say nothing.

just SE of South Bend. There is a short trail that crosses the BNSF tracks and the Platte River on the old Rock Island RR Bridge.

Went to CB today to get my Taxes done. When I left I got word they closed my office so what the heck, shoot a few trains on the way home!

Up first, The Union Pacific.

The OMAX coal train is working on its goofy switching move to make it from the north Omaha Power Plant back to the UP main Line. I believe this is the DPU unit on the rear of the train and the train is actually backing up off the BNSF and on the the UP before it heads west again (UP8227 an SD9043AC).

Then up by Avenue G(about 2 miles from the pictures above), more KCS Hoppers:

Mark, Did you shoot those? Great Videos!

I love that first Video! I am always partial to the SD40-2 "snoot nose" because I think of that as the locomotive of my childhood!

Also, you or whoever made that video kept saying more, AC4400... I always like the AC4400 better than the SD60MAC, SD70MAC, SD90-43MAC.... While the SD90-43's kind of have a wing radiator at the end of the locomotive, no one does it like the AC4400. Its like the spoiler on a Hot Rod.

These or not of my creation - I just found them while surfing the other day and thought they were cool. Go to the link and then find the author's other train videos - he has about 75 of them IIRC. They are cool. 8)

Can't comment on specifically which country that is in the clip, but that is definitely common practice in Japan/Tokyo. The guys that are shoving are actually called "pushers" (though I'm sure there's something lost in translation), and it is a regular part of their job.

The Centennial 6936 (Diesel just like the one at Kennefick park) will be arriving in Council Bluffs about 10:30pm tonight.
