I just saw a commercial last night that BK brought back their Chicken Parmesan sandwich! That's the only item I like from that place!!! Looks like I'm going to be stuck in purgatory drive thru at the BK on 178th & Center... never know if I'll be lucky enough to hit the store on a day they have staff and are open

The chicken sandwiches are MUCH better (and just as unhealthy) if you go to a local place- Omaha Tap House (their Nashville Hot chicken sandwich is bomb)..and fried chicken sandwich offerings from Dirty Birds in AK Village etc..
I say if we’re going to eat unhealthy, it should taste better and it might as well be local …

Please educate me! Getting a chicken sandwich (especially if grilled) has been my go-to healthy choice at many fast food places. You mean to say chicken isn't healthy (or at least healthier)? (I'm not trying to be a wiseguy...I really need some 'splainin'.)

I tried to do a little comparison for you, but I looked at BK, McDonalds, and they didn't show a grilled chicken sandwich anymore. Chik-fil-a and Wendy's do, with Wendy's being the more comparable between the grilled and fried chicken sandwiches. I used to get grilled chicken sandwiches anywhere when I was into bodybuilding and wanted to "eat clean(er)". Now it looks like a lot of places to have them anymore. Well anyway, at least on a Wendy's chicken sandwich, you save 140 calories, and like 600 mg of sodium. Which, that many calories isn't that big of a difference, but the sodium really is quite a bit lower. Same is the case at Chik-fil-a... It can't hurt to go grilled

I’m talking about the fried chicken variations here- ..
Edit to say- many of these “Grilled Chicken” sandwich offerings at these national fast food places (like BK or McDonald’s) are about as unhealthy as their fried chicken sandwich options- many of these “grilled chicken” patties are soaked in a salt filled Brie of various chemicals for flavor, then the bun, toppings and whatever dressing is placed on it..probably make it better to just get the fried chicken option..if you choose to eat there…

It’s on my list- I’ve only had their Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich- I think they call it “Omahawt” (or something like that) and it was fantastic…

Wow. It looks like that topic was thoroughly discussed several years back. With the same poster asking about it again here, like he did back then lol. That’s very strange. In any case, if the food is sh!t like it is at Burger King, I could care less what fountain drinks are available.
By 5 on Sunday both the BK and Taco John's off 168th and Dodge were closed. Not sure if they were open during the day or not. Assuming it was staffing issues.
My favored Culver's at 99th and Giles has the same issues. Dining room closed at 7 on the weekends, and shuttered at least by 5 during the week.
The Baskin/Dunkin on 168th in Gretna is all over the place--dining open / drive closed, and randomly vice versa. Last week, they were completely closed by 7 on a Friday night.
In one visit I think I may have just seen the best example of the problems with BK in Omaha. Somewhat against my better judgement, I went for breakfast to the one on 72nd and Blondo. On the marque they advertise the 2 for $4 croissant sandwiches, so I order two egg and cheese croissants. When I get to the window they tell me it's $6.91. When I point out the 2 for 4 offer, I'm told it doesn't apply to egg and cheese croissants!
After staring in disbelief for a second, I say "Then I want 2 bacon, egg and cheese croissants instead!" She changes it, no questions asked, and says the total is $4.31. While waiting for the food I even said the the cashier, "I think I see a flaw here." No response, as she either doesn't notice or doesn't care.
So BK had to spend more in food costs, to give me the lower price they advertised for what I wanted. How long can anyone stay in business that way?
Even though it costs more, every once and awhile like I did this morning, I’ll go through the Brueggers’s Bagels drive through for a far more superior breakfast sandwich and coffee- compared to the lack of quality and service at Burger King, it’s worth it…

Agreed. I also get breakfast every once in a while at Brueggers. I probably would more often, except the one by me on 40th and Dodge doesn't have a drive thru.

Not sure if it's permanent but right now Wendy's sausage, egg and cheese biscuit is only a buck. Pretty darn good for the price.

I’ve been down in Dallas for the holidays the past few days and have gotten my Whataburger and In-N-Out burger fixes..I have also come to a simple conclusion-
Omaha needs both of these chains to invade our market. They’re both so good and yet so different in the way they execute their fast food product. Both would be a big hit in the metro (I still give Whataburger the nod as my favorite between the two)..and both are a VAST improvement over crappy national chains like Burger King, McDonald’s etc..
In-N-Out is probably a long shot at present for expansion into Omaha..but with Whataburger, now open and only 190 miles to the south in the Kansas City market area, at least there is a punchers chance for Omaha expansion…
Huh, I was surprised to see Denver has the nearest In N Out. That's our neighbor big city to the west, so maybe we are next, if not KC. Ive never had In N Out, but obviously have heard rave reviews of it, and hope to try it some time.
I agree about Whataburger, and it would seem likely to me they will expand into Omaha soon or next. It would be a natural progression. And that sir would be cause for celebration.

HAHA, WOW! I love me some Whataburger, which I think would get the same reception in Omaha, but I'd never subject myself to that kind of insanity. I'd have to let the hype simmer down for at least a month.
With In-N-Out Burger, simplier is better- they focus only on 3 things- Hamburger/cheeseburger (single or double, and no specialty burgers), fries (which they cut in house) and milkshakes. That’s it. And it’s all really good and high quality..
With Whataburger, they have the variety of items most of us have grown accustomed to- Breakfast items, a variety of different style of burgers, chicken strips and chicken sandwiches, French fries etc..but all of it is well executed and much higher quality than the similar fare found at a Burger King, Wendy’s, McDonald’s etc..
Whataburger’s burgers are much larger and more dense than In-N-Out..just depends on which you prefer..
In the end, if either or both arrive in the Omaha market, it would be cause to celebrate …

Totally agree, and the funny thing is, Monday Oakview looked like that, however it wasn't In-and-Out, it was the covid testing center that wrapped half way around the mall.

I love Taco John's so I am a little biased, but just like other chains, it can depend on which location you go to. I love the one on Saddlecreek and the Bellevue and CB ones, however there are some locations that really skimp on the ingredients.
Taco Bell is ok if you like cheap, cheesy and greasy food. I think Albelardo's is ok too, but the quality of the chicken is always bad and the cost is much more than TJ or TB.

What do you love about it? I try every time I get it. I don't know why, but every now and then I want it, then I get reminded why I rarely get it. Right down to the hot sauce, beans, taco beef, red sauce, flour tortillas, taco shells. Even down to the lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese... None of it is good to me. It just seems to lack flavor in a weird way. I don't get it. I had it for lunch today, and just feel unfulfilled, like after work tonight, I might just stop by Abelardo's to feel like I ate some Mexican food today. I went to the Saddle Creek location today.
I can't wait for the Saddle Creek and Dodge Abelardo's to open.

I'll give 'em this: Everything I got had some good volume and weight to it... Maybe like 1.33 times what you might get at Taco Bell. But it was just so bland. It happens absolutely every time I go to Taco Johns. They just do things differently. And no matter how shallow an opinion it might be, I just can't say Taco John's is better than Taco Bell. I don’t necessarily have a “go to” item..but when I eat Taco Bell, it is a MUST for me, to have their Fire Sauce as an accompaniment. Their Fire Sauce instantly makes any of their tacos, burritos, chalupa’s etc much MUCH better…

Right, right. I would say I get Taco Bell maybe zero, or once, sometimes twice a month. Better that way. I love all their sauces. Sometimes I'll put one of each on a taco or Burrito (I think they have mild, hot, fire, and diablo now). Fire and Diablo are by far my favorite, but sometimes the ol' belly needs a break.
