Yeah it looks like their rewards program has been upgraded and better now. That being said, I a, bummed they removed the pump/pay function from your phone. Was nice during less than ideal weather.JDJase wrote: Mon Apr 01, 2024 12:11 pm In order to align their program with Maverik (per their app update description), Kum & Go has removed the feature from the app that allows you to activate pump/pay from your phone. Obviously not a major thing, but still disappointing as I quite liked that feature.

Paying with an app is handy at places that don't have tap to pay readers yet since magstripes that can be skimmed are still a thing.

Yeah thats what I am hoping for, And they also look cleaner/more organized than Kum and Go. The Kum and Go in Bellevue on Fairview, has has a broken piece on the canopy for at least a year and last time I went inside it was cluttered and dirty.

I stopped in a Maverik off I-80 near Big Springs, Nebraska. Very clean. Of course, it's very new too.

The existing stores might get the Casey's treatment too where they'll remodel some sites and turn them into Cadillacs, and the others will just get new signage and otherwise be left to disintegrate.

That is so true. There are some of them that only had the name change but the store operates just as crappy as Bucky's did when it owned them.jessep28 wrote: Thu Apr 04, 2024 6:17 am The existing stores might get the Casey's treatment too where they'll remodel some sites and turn them into Cadillacs, and the others will just get new signage and otherwise be left to disintegrate.

I can't really think of any Kum and Go's that haven't been kept up. Seems like most or all of the older ones have been updated in the last few years (part of it was because they added the kitchens). None are even like the Casey's off 21st in Bellevue.skinzfan23 wrote: Thu Apr 04, 2024 9:25 amThat is so true. Re: Kum & Go ➜ Maverik
I was in the Kum & Go at 72nd & Pacific back in 2007 and the manager was talking to another customer about how they were closing all of the Omaha Kum & Go's east of 72nd (excluding the ones on the east side of 72nd street itself). The customer asked if it was because of robbery and the manager replied, "Actually, the employees steal more than the customers do. It's just not worth the headache operating those locations anymore." I just checked Google Maps and sure enough, still no Kum & Go's north of Harrison and east of 72nd. I have no idea if that was the real reason they closed them or just some employee speculating. I also couldn't tell you how many Kum & Go's used to be east of 72nd.

Maverik confirms it’s rebranding all Kum & Go stores
Once it finishes this project, Maverik will operate over 800 convenience stores under its own banner across 18 states, making it one of the most widespread convenience store chains in the country.

They are outdoors themed. All the new locations have giant local nature photos. Nebraska locations have photos of Scottsbluff, Chimney Rock, Toadstool Park, Fort Robinson, Smith Falls, Etc. Colorado locations have popular mountain scenes, Utah locations have Moab, Arches, etc. They have very high ceilings and the photos are huge! Most of them have some sort of artificial pine tree branches above the registers. They are usually bright and wide open inside. I believe they all have a picnic area outside too.Greg S wrote: Wed Nov 06, 2024 3:10 pmHow does a Maverik look different (or better) than a Kum and Go?Brad wrote: Wed Nov 06, 2024 2:37 pmSorry, I missed this. How much better is Kwik Star than Quik Trip? Quik Trip unlike other station chains has a wide selection of food items, not just junk food but healthy options too. Quik Trips on their modern design, have so many curves in the exterior and interior, with tables outside. Quik Trips feel open, since there are 3 entrances and the restrooms are on the sides.Quik Trips have these snazzy touch screens that you can order!skinzfan23 wrote: Wed Nov 06, 2024 3:31 pm Still hoping to get a Kwik Star here in Omaha, blows both of these chains out of the water.
I tend to find Quik Trips, as more upscale, more premium than the typical boxy gas station.
Does Kwik Star offer features that Quik Trip doesn't? Or at least better than your average Caseys?

Kwik Star is head and shoulders better than Quik Trip. QT used to be decent but everyone I have been to lately is in the same boat with Bucky's/Casey's....the employees are not always the friendliest and the stores are always dirty and cluttered.
They treat and pay their employees well. They also have a unique distribution model and bake their own baked goods daily that they ship (which is also prob why at this point they don't have a store in Nebraska b/c it is a little out of their distribution facility.)
This video is a little long but here is a history of Kwik Star/Kwik Trip:

Re: Kum & Go ---->>> Maverik
I've never had problems with the employees, they are super nice and they can handle two cash registers at once, while a person is paying with their card, the employee can tend the other line of people too.skinzfan23 wrote: Fri Nov 15, 2024 9:31 am Kwik Star is head and shoulders better than Quik Trip. I don't have any experience of Quik Trips being dirty, Casey's has some dirty bathrooms and I easily notice when a store needs better maintenance.
I have talked to several employees about the company and they talk how great of a company Quik Trip is to work for and how their stock is private and not public like Casey's
In my experience, Quik Trip has improved a lot from it's old store designs that resembled the typical average gas station. Quik Trip is better than it once was. Quik Trip has a consistent design language. The accented bricks and concrete moldings give its stores that sophisticated and upscale look.
Unlike other gas stations that look like budget, boxy barn styles and that's why I always look for QT because I enjoy the experience of QT.

Quik Trip puts attention to finer details inside and out.

QT is a category all its own, and focuses on making everything quick. Will they have everything others have? No, but you can count on getting in and out fast.
Kwik Trip/Star is more of a Buc-ees extra light country store. A Cracker Barrel next door would not be out of place.

I don’t know how else to say it but you need to go to a Kwik Star and see the difference. QT is definitely better then Casey’s but still not amazing for a convenience store.
