Taco Bell vs Taco John’s? I prefer Taco Bell. I try to limit myself to eating there no more than once a month. I don’t necessarily have a “go to” item..but when I eat Taco Bell, it is a MUST for me, to have their Fire Sauce as an accompaniment. Their Fire Sauce instantly makes any of their tacos, burritos, chalupa’s etc much MUCH better…

Ciao..LiO…Peace
Right, right. I would say I get Taco Bell maybe zero, or once, sometimes twice a month. Better that way. I love all their sauces. Sometimes I'll put one of each on a taco or Burrito (I think they have mild, hot, fire, and diablo now). Fire and Diablo are by far my favorite, but sometimes the ol' belly needs a break.
Same..

But I’ll have to try that Diablo sauce the next time I go. I’ve never had that one. The last time I was at Taco Bell (maybe 2 weeks ago) I went through the drive through and as I usually do, asked for about 10 Fire Sauce packets. Stupidly, I didn’t check the sack and got home, to discover they gave me their Hot sauce packets (YUCK) instead of Fire. I was so pi$$ed. I barely choked down the burrito and 2 taco supremes I ordered…

I would have to say it's not that much hotter than Fire, but it doesn't have the chunks of chili in it like the Fire does. Maybe a little more vinegary, got a little more bite, and maybe more of a chili powder flavor. I definitely get torn between Fire and Diablo. I think Diablo has been around for about maybe 8 years. It came out, and then disappeared, and then has been around ever since it came back.

That Blackjack taco they had around 2009, I enjoyed it. It was goofy with the black shell, but it tasted good.

Now, got me thinking, one I wish was still around otherwise is the angry whopper, not with the red bun though. I frickin loved the angry whopper without the red bun. And the A1 steakhouse burger at BK.

I’m not the biggest Amigos fan (although their crisp meat burritos are fantastic)..

But I have a large contingent of family members who agree with you on this :;):

My go-to is their Chicken Soft taco. You can hate me for it if you want, but I will survive.

Wait, are we talking about Amigo's/Kings Classic, or the actual authentic restaurant at 21st & Q?

There's an authentic restaurant called Amigos. Not really fast food, never been there, just seen it.

I just can't fathom anybody thinking Amigos is better than Abelardo's. Amigos is Gringo food. Abelardo's, although somewhat watered down for efficiency and to please the masses, is closer to authentic.

At 21st and Q It’s called Amigo’s Market. It’s not a fast food place, at least, based on the signage..I’ve driven by there a few times but have never been either. It looks interesting though..But that’s certainly not the Amigo’s chain fast food restaurant referred to in previous posts…

Yeah, I didn't think so... So its true.

I looked up that Amigo's on Q and it says its a restaurant. Assuming something like Victor's but with a market.

So I heard Taco Bell is selling "Crispy Wings" just up to the 12th... Its kinda intriguing. I want to try them, but I probably won't have the opportunity. And TBH, they probably suck. But its always fun to try Taco Bell's gimmicky items.

Yeah, I’ll usually try the new Taco Bell gimmick item at least once..They’re so hit and miss though. I’d imagine their wings would be awful. It’s something I likely won’t try this go around…

Why assume they are awful. The parent company has KFC too so there is something to tap into on the chicken side.

Their friend chicken sandwich/taco was awful. I’ll try these out, but my expectations are very low. They’re just so hit and miss with their new items. Some I really like..others- yuck, lol..

Yeah, those things sucked. I figured it was basically a chicken little since they're tied to KFC.

I want to try the wings. I watched a couple reviews and they are supposedly bangin'. But you get 5 little wings for like $6. And I hear they're already hard to come by, so I may not try to get em.

I see Arby's came out with a new spicy brisket sandwich... Very interesting. I frickin LOVED Firehouse's Nashville Hot Brisket Sandwich, so I have some pretty high hopes for this.

I used to get that sandwich from Firehouse like sh1t you not, every other day for like 3 or 4 months straight. That thing was BOMB. There is still a part of me missing ever since they ran out of that thing.

So I had that sandwich at Arby's... I think it's called the Diablo Brisket Sandwich... And man, I'm not lying, it is the bomb diggity. I may have found a new soulmate haha... I wanted it to be good, and it was excellent. Burning a hole in my belly now though haha. It is genuinely hot. Like, I have a tolerance for heat enough that I will tell places if you think its hot, make it two or three times that. Didn't do that with this one and it was frickin hot anyway. No Joke.

Okay, flavor was on point. Only thing is it could have used a little more meat. I think there was 5 slices of brisket. Could have used 7 or 8. Regardless, that may very per visit and per location, so I will most definitely be getting this one again. It gets 11.5 out of 10 from me. And the missing .5 is for the slightly lacking amount of beef. 1000% would recommend. And I'm not even much of an Arby's guy. I don't think I had it once last year.

On Arby's, I was also gonna get one of my favorites, the Italian Sub, but they don't have it any more.

Now, keep in mind, I rarely get Arby's, but when I do, my favorites are :

Now, Diablo Brisket Sandwich... The vanilla shake it comes standard with was also pretty good. I'm gonna get that thing as many times as I can while they're running it, which I understood was about mid-February... Big ol- Beef & Cheddar... Jamocha Shake...

Not a big fan of their fries, and their salads suck. Wasn't mad in the least about Potato Cakes exiting.

Getting rid of potato cakes was one of the stupidest ideas Arby’s could ever come up with. For as long as we all remember, their roast beef sandwiches paired with potato cakes were famous staples on their menu. It would be like KFC discontinuing their mashed potato’s and gravy or Popeyes eliminating their famous red beans and rice side. Just a dumb decision by Arby’s.

I concur. Just deep fried hash brown patties like a lot of fast food places have on their breakfast menu. Of course, I'm a bit of a weirdo and tend to not order sides when I eat fast food.

I cannot concur enough on this. I would also pair them with Horsey sauce. The nostril stings were a bit annoying, but worth it.

That said, I really enjoyr their (relatively) new Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. I love buffalo sauce and not enough places cover the chicken in sauce as well as Arby's does.

I used to dip them in the honey mustard. Gave it a nice sweet and tangy taste.

When Arby’s got rid of potato cakes they introduced crinkle fries. These aren’t a replacement, and aren’t really better that just ok. If I have anything, I have the curly fries.

Agreed. I dont get any potatoes and therefore no combos. They have to be losing sales as they were the only fast food place with realistic alternatives to crappy fries.

I wanted to mention that I agree, their crinkle fries are no replacement for their signature potato cakes.. I did try them once, they are not even that good.. If/when I go to Arby’s again and have to order a side, it’ll be the curly fries..which I’ve never been wild about either..

Arby’s just needs to bite the bullet, realize they made a mistake, and BRING BACK Potato Cakes! He!l, even Coke realized they F’ed up when they jacked around with their soda formula in 1985…

Ha - I thought I was the only one really bitter about them dropping potato cakes - |expletive|, they've had them since I was a kid for sure! 40+ years and then BAM, they're gone? WOW

They also had changed their "Arby's Sauce" but that was probably a couple decades ago. I remember it tasting more like a BBQ sauce before. But I've adapted to that change. Dropping potato cakes, tho? No adapting to that nonsense!

Oh, I also miss their Ar-b-q sandwich... I think it was their roast beef marinated in some type of BBQ sauce. Not sure, but it was good, IMO

Oh yeah! That was one of my go-tos as a kid. I used to be very picky, only ate a few select things, and that was one of em! I honestly forgot about that, really didn't even realize they didn't still make them. They were good.

Nope, you’re not the only one, lol..

Arby’s just ripping an iconic, original side item off their menu..Poor, poor decision on their part. But I’d suspect, like everything else, there was a higher cost in offering their potato cakes opposed to their new, cut rate crinkle fries..but oh well. Coke once realized they made a huge mistake when they messed with their cola formula in 1985- by 1986, Coke Classic Original Formula was brought back..Perhaps there is a glimmer of hope for a potato cake return :;):

Ciao..LiO…Peace
Go Cowboys!

What are thoughts on Wing Stop? I have one near work, but I've never thought to get it. I decided to explore the menu after a co-worker got it for lunch recently. It looked pretty good, but they wanted like $11 for 6 wings, fries and a drink. Seems kinda steep. Worth it, or nah?
