Indeed. This reminds me of similar news from a few days ago: England World Cup gear stolen from team van in Kansas City.
"Yesterday, officials in Kansas City learned at some point between their over-the-road transport from Florida to their arrival at the training facility in Kansas City, goods belonging to the English national team were stolen," said Quinton Lucas, the mayor of Kansas City, Missouri.
I saw where they've already arrested some in KC and recovered pretty much all of what was missing. They haven't determined yet where it happened between Florida and KC though but I imagine that will come out as well.

I feel like this is the time of the year an uptick usually happens (shootings/homicides) it’s not good, but I don’t think it’s unusual.

Longer days, kids out of school, decent weather. More time for trouble to find trouble.

There's a reason crime rates drop when it's 20 or 105 degrees out. Trouble mostly stays at home on the couch.
Stable genius.

Are we speculating that the older couple was not a random home break-in gone bad?

Yes, 4 died in murder suicides, another was shot dead and another died in a fire all last Wednesday.

I saw they released the names in one murder suicide but haven't as near as I can tell in the second.

Sounds like the one who died in the fire might be currently being investigated for suspicious activity as well.
