Good info..

And a move that’s really made a difference for the Jays on court performance. I’m really digging this commitment to defense. Taking chances and being more aggressive is creating more turnover possibilities.. Resulting in extra points that can win close games down the stretch...

I follow Creighton basketball probably more than any one else on this board. And yes, I do want to see them get to Sweet 16 finally, but I also realize that this team is young. They have definitely progressed as the season has went on, which is a good sign. Another good thing to note, is that the roster is finally mostly healthy outside of Epperson.

It has been talked about many times, but maybe it is the aggressive, quick style of play, but the Creighton players always seem worn down and hurt at the end of the season, making it hard to finish strong. It would be great to see those roles reversed for once and actually have some health for the main players and give it everything they have to see how far they can take us.

As strange as this sounds, maybe, for this team this year, it’s better they blew the 16 point lead in the 2nd half..and made plays to FINALLY win a big game in OT..

Four in a row for the Jays. Let’s made it five Saturday night...

My thoughts as well. That said, still wasn't good for the ole blood pressure.

Onwards and upwards, let's close out Depaul and win some in the tourney.

Great way to grind out the win. The Jays defense the past 2 games has been outstanding. Most of the crowd stayed until the end, which was great to see. Hopefully there is a great crowd there on Saturday to send the 2 transfer seniors off.

TCU reportedly one of two schools (Creighton the other) added to college basketball corruption probe, according to court filings

Two new college basketball programs have been linked to the ongoing college basketball corruption probe, according to a document filed Thursday in the Southern District of New York.
The new development, which was first reported by the Los Angeles Times, cites unnamed universities in Nebraska and Texas.
Yahoo Sports' Dan Wetzel reports, citing sources, that the two schools are Creighton and TCU.
In the indictment, federal prosecutors allege bribes were paid to unnamed assistant coaches at schools located in Nebraska and Texas in order to steer players to a particular agent or advisor.
In July 2017, three men met with the assistant coach from the Texas university, reported to be Barker, in a Las Vegas hotel room, according to the court filing. The assistant received $6,000 to steer particular players to the company ran by Christian Dawkins, who is a defendant in the federal case.

Bet this made for an interesting day in Ras's office. If true, Preston Murphy throwing it all away for $6k is one of the more stupid things I've seen.

The fabric of reality is that the coaching is darn good and without that good coaching this season could of been much uglier with the talent level as limited as it is. As long as coach Mac is running a clean operation then it would serve Creighton well to hang on to him for as long as they can.

Thats just it....... he is a great coach on the court but behind the scenes he is dirty. It was looking like Creighton had dodged the bullet and their alleged recruiting violations were going to be over looked by the powers to be but now it looks like just the opposite. It now appears that they are looking to make an example out of Creighton on this. Can the head coach survive this firestorm by passing off the teams dirty deeds to an assistant coach. Can Creighton serve up an assistant coach as a sacrificial lamb. A treacherous path lies ahead for Creighton indeed.

Recruiting talent to this area has been a real problem for the Huskers and the Jays and at this point in time it looks like neither one of them has the problem figured out.

Regardless, it's a ridiculously stupid thing to do given his salary, and what it means to his career potentially. Don't see how he stays at Creighton at this point.

Thankfully for Creighton this wasn't in regards to recruiting, but rather about players after they graduated (I think the timing was post Patton? So maybe Khyri?).

An assistant supposedly took 6 grand to steer a guy that had already been on campus a year to an agent for the draft.

This is pretty much a nothing burger in the grand scheme of CBB scandals. Let Murphy go, vacate the wins Patton or KT got if you want and move on.

If more info comes out about payments for Bowen it is worse I guess(I don' think guys getting cash is a scandal anymore, but the NCAA is still going to claim it is).

Real scandals are North Carolina paper classes, stripping players of the education opportunity that the NCAA claims they are receiving, Baylor's culture of assault and turning a blind eye(still think that deserved a death penalty or the Big 12 kicking them out, but too much Baylor influence in TX), Penn St, Michigan St gymnastics etc.

If I read that article in today's paper right it said that a Creighton coach met an agent in his hotel room in Vegas and that an informant paid him $6000. In my mind that leads to thoughts that there is quite a bit more to this story then we know so far. The fact that an informant was being used is evidence that the authorities were stalking Creighton and that they were building a case. I guess O.J. is not the only one after all that is so horribly stupid that they think conducting a shady deal in a Las Vegas hotel room is a safe place. :what: That coach should of been fired yesterday just for being so darn stupid. Shame on this pathetic coach for giving Patton and other players misguided and false information and dragging them into the sewer. Coaches like this giving players guidance that is tied to the coaches getting a fat commission or pay check reminds of me of some B.S financial adviser up at Edwards Jones only recommending stocks and investments he knows will pay himself the best commission.

I'm watching D-Rock toast Illinois St right now at Arch Madness. He is getting a lot of praise from Fox Sports.
Then there is Porter Moser and what he did last year with Loyola Chicago in the Dance.
Is Creighton starting to produce quality coaches?

Creighton men's basketball places assistant Preston Murphy on administrative leave

Assistant men’s basketball coach Preston Murphy has been placed on administrative leave pending an internal review,” Athletic Director Bruce Rasmussen said in a statement. “We fully intend to cooperate with authorities but will not comment further on the continuing investigation given our policy of not discussing personnel matters.”

If DRock wants to leave Drake for bigger opportunities, I think he will get some offers here soon. That said, he is at his Alma Mater (I believe?) so who knows, he might want to stay.

Unbelievable performance by Mitch tonight..And they needed every bit of it because their defensive intensity was just not there after a quick 9-0 start..

Nonetheless, nice win..and great way to close out the season with 5 straight wins to finish 18-13..

So I’m wondering, does 20 wins get the Jays in the NCAA Tournament? Say they win 2 next week and finish 20-14 to end the regular season..Will that be enough to get them a bid. Or to they have to win the Big East Tournament and get the automatic bid..Hmmm..

What say you?..

At least we know they’re an NIT lock...

Yes, I believe that 2 wins puts them in for sure (I think technically for RPI and NET they are at 17 wins? Due to Coe College game). 1 win and they are on the scary bubble and will have to watch other bubble teams.

Right now on Bracket Matrix Creighton is listed as first four out.
Marquette is a 5 seed
Villanova is a 6 seed
St John's is a 10 seed
Seton Hall is an 11 seed

Most of the brackets have the date of 3/9
But still have SDSU as Summit champs, so it must be a morning bracket.

Creighton will open the NIT with a match-up against one of its renowned alums.

Former CU player Porter Moser, now the coach at Loyola-Chicago, is set to return to Omaha to face Creighton in the first round of the NIT on Tuesday.

The Moser-led Ramblers (20-13), who made a memorable Final Four run last year, finished as Missouri Valley regular season co-champions this season and earned an NIT automatic bid.

After bowing out early in the Big East Tournament, this is about where I thought the Jays would land. Not a bad spot and a #2 seed in the NIT. The Huskers are in the same bracket, if both teams win their first 2 games, we would have a CU-NU rematch in the Quarterfinals..

That game would be played in Omaha as the Jays are a higher seed than the Huskers (Nebraska is a #4 seed) and I hope it comes to fruition...

Krampelj had a career-high 4 3's, Ballock with career high 5 2's.

Good to see the Jays get win #19, they have a chance at #20 against Penny Hardaway and the Memphis Tigers.

Creighton wins 79 to 67.

41 total fouls amongst the two teams. Good grief.

Crazy game. Creighton played both great and very bad in each half..and still came away with the 12 point win. Give Memphis credit. Their press and pressure was for real.. Also, the Jays don’t win this game without the significant minutes contrbution from Christian Bishop when Martin got foul #4..

On the the Quarterfinals and, hopefully, another home game :thumb: ...

The Jays were up 17 and almost made a 3 to go up 20, then the refs decided to take over. That 5-6 min stretch was brutal to watch. There were at least 6-7 consecutive questionable calls against the Jays. Memphis pulled within 2, but thankfully Creighton didn't give up. As mentioned above, Bishop took over and played his best game as a Jay and nearly got a double-double.

A great win for Creighton and win #20 on the season!

Hope the Huskers win Sunday, then CU and NU will be set up for the rematch at CHI.

Sloppy play by the Jays in the first half with 12 turnovers..

Yet, they’re up on TCU 33-30 at the half. CU needs to clean this up in the 2nd half. If they do, I get the sense they’ll coast to a win...

Looks like they regressed further in the second half. Another second half where they fail to show up, and it happened right after half time instead of with 5 minutes to go.
